Nothing changes almost half of the year. I try to avoid scratches by touching metal. You're first here who speaks about hanging, appreciate you.

Buy some ZMF cowhide / lambskin pads and never have to deal with faux-leather again.

Its not about care, this stuff will degrade no matter what. Its not being able to maintained thats the problem.

You shouldn't hang the Sundaras on the leather strap, hang it under the metal headband instead

Sorry OP, I've made a mistake. I don't know why it sounds bad then maybe it needs more power, cuz hifiman is the sauce. When i connect my hd600 on 260mw into 32ohm dongle it sounds really muffled, maybe the same thing happens. I know it's not the same specs but planar likes juice a lot

Well obviously, I do have panels on the side and backwalls and also a few in the ceiling. But I was talking about the bass that you mentioned needed 20k speakers and 20k treatment to sound fast like in headphones, which simply isn't true. Good placement (I used the masters-setup) coupled with capable, half-decent speakers and bass traps will get you there.

headphones don't have that problem, i can also listen as loud as i like
and any time i like without the neighbours wanting to kill me...
Completely beside the point, but you do you. Have fun with the Stax, I'll enjoy my speakers :)

I really don't know, sorry. Just an engineer knows about a thing like this. I speculate that it's to increase the rigidity of the diaphragm, adding a surface that is not completely straight with unevenness between its surface. I don't think that is a big thing, because some Focal and BeyerDynamic headphones don't have an unevenness surface in their drivers.

I prefer my headphones to my speakers. The amount of adjusting, room correcting, acoustic paneling, bass trapping etc. I'd need to do to get even close to sound as good as my headphones is not an option for me. Also I'll take a vegan burger over a "regular" one any day, but that's subjective.

Yep once. The AEON Closed Xs. I loved the way they looked so much I said fuck it and bought them. I hated the sound so much I returned them the next day. Honestly ever since I got introduced to open backs in 2020 I can't do closed backs anymore.

Where are you pulling these arbituary numbers from? What I meant with the bass-comment is that headphones simply cannot do bass the same way a speaker can, a whole-body experience.
My speaker-setup has cost me about 2000€ so far, room treatment about 300€ (still more to come of course, gonna shoot up to about a grand in total) and the bass is fast, physical and doesn't ring in the room until the 40-30hz rangle. A couple bass traps achieved this, no need to spend 20k on them as your comment suggests lol. The whole presentation, with Dirac, is simply amazing, sold my HD800 since I simply don't even use them anymore due to this system, grand total of less than 3000.

Wow, thank you for all this work and info. I'll start digging into this! I feel like I skipped an era and now I'm cool again xD DIY is definitely sth I'd do.
Turning the volume up too high is probably not the way my ears will go. I like to go down till it's too quiet and then just one up. I like it in the background and I know the numbers by heart for "alone at home" and "walking by the busy road" ;)

Pads are always self replaceable. If you need, you can also Google the method for the particular pair of headphones and you will always find an answer.
