Final Update: I finally got my set of 560s in the mail after the longest 4 day wait of my lifešŸ˜”āœŠ. For now, I’m only driving it from my IPhone and DAC… I’m very aware this isn’t ideal, even though the 560s are super easy to drive. (I plan on getting a Schiit Valhalla soon).

I was finally able to cover the grills, like I planned to do even before I wrote this post. So, I could finally answer my own implied rhetorical question… Is there an audible difference? Absolutely! There’s no question about it. Does it ā€œsound like shitā€, NOPE… and a select few of you are being beyond beyond hyperbolic.

There’s still so many audiophiles that need to realize: the VAST MAJORITY of the population are only used to AirPods and Skullcandy earbuds…

Even compared to the m40x studio monitors that I have, it sounds significantly better, even with the grills covered. Will I apologize for pissing off all the passive aggressive headphone purists?! NEVER!!! I DONT CARE HOW MUCH DAMN KARMA I LOSE!!!!

At the end of the day there’s really only two types of audiophiles: The type who strive for the most analytical sound possible, and the ones who want to enjoy their music… there’s not much leeway.

Downvote me all you want, but here’s the honest truth…
It’s no wonder so many are turned off from Hifi in the first place. The Average Joe still thinks Hifi is snake-oil paired with smoke and mirrors. High fidelity communities have to be one of the most toxic places on the internet, TRULY!!!

There is and ALWAYS will be so much prejudice attached to Hifi for this exact reason. Especially If you few keep Re-enforcing this BS precedent. It’s almost as if some of you don’t want others to experience what magic a good set of cans can make you feel. āœŒļø

(To the people who said there’s no-one angry, I wonder why there’s deleted comments šŸ˜ššŸ¤”)

I haven’t tried the M4 yet, but I owns the M3 since it came out. And I can tell you that using it wired is shit ! The sound isn’t as good at all and there are LOTS of parasite noise coming from the cable. Also, the headphone sounds horrendous without the noise-cancelling activated ! (For many years though, I considered it to be the best sounding headphones that I had ever tried, when ANC is activated at least. So I don’t even criticise the headphone as a whole, I loved it.)

So, if you need to activate the ANC to make it sound good, you need the headphones to be charged at all time, and then it is a bit stupid to use it wired because it won’t use less battery !

Which is the number 1 reason that made me stop buying ANC headphones, I became annoyed at having to charge it all the time for it to work. I bought a Hifiman Sundara a few months ago, and boy it is the best audio move I’ve done in years.. sound quality is far far better ! I can’t use it on my phone anymore though but that’s okay.

So I would say, if you are not about to use the M4 mainly outside, you’d rather buy a non-ANC headphone. With the same amount of money you can buy a headphone that sound 3x better (noise cancelling technology is pricy but useless at home)! šŸ¤—

E10k has long been reviewed as making things sound bright, not too too surprised.. To most that characteristic wouldn't be a very good match for the 6xx's tuning. Even if the E10k costs more and maybe puts out slightly more power (though it doesn't put out much) there is still room for preference here.

It may not be worth it to you to find out, but I guarantee there is something out there that will make your 6xx sound better to you and all your friends than that 2012 motherboard does. The E10k just ain't it.

  1. No. I don't believe the DSP is in use while plugged in, That's how these ANC headphones sound decent.
  2. I own them/use all the time due to the NC and isolation. They do these things well, which also happens to be what they were designed for. My Edition XS are huge, not very mobile even when connected to something like my 5k, and leak sound both ways.
  3. I haven't experienced any software bugs, also out of the loop on any feedback/commentary from other owners though

I own them/use all the time due to the NC and isolation. They do these things well, which also happens to be what they were designed for, at half the cost of the PX8 or Bathys.

Buy a FiiO K5 pro, it has a built in DAC and Amp in one device and you're good to go. Don't go with Toppings they are terrible. The treble sounds so harsh on toppings it is as if they boosted treble and bass to get that artificial clarity and dynamic punch.

Edit: Or if you're in the US perhaps Schiit products would be a better pick than Chi-fi products. Get a magni+modi stack or if you want an all in one solution (with DACs and amp inside), Schiit Fulla & Hel will do a great job.

Oh. You have some nice pair of headphones man. šŸ‘I'm not surprised the momentum 4 aint up there. ā˜ŗļø Anyways. Thanks for the info about the momentum 4 sounding best with the wireless thing. I think I can be at ease with what I got already. But I find these things really interesting. ā˜ŗļø

I used to have Momentum 2.0, they were... okay. I then upgraded to B&W PX8, most people agree that they're on a whole different level than the Sennheiser Momentum 4. HOWEVER, compared to the Hifiman Edition XS I use at home, they're not as good. I doubt the Momentum 4 is as good as a proper wired headphone setup and they sound their best wireless, because they're designed to be used that way. The only time you'd use them with a wire is if they run out of battery and even then I don't know if they even work "passive"/unpowered.

Haven’t tried many headphones, but of the ones I have tried and own sundara is far and away my favorite. Haven’t touched my starfields in months, only use the 58X for discord calls, and my M50x isn’t even worthy of discussion.

Well, the guy said that anything with a wire is ALWAYS better than BT.

The Delta Airline complementary earbuds are utter TRASH and a waste of plastic.

So, they are the perfect example for a wired pair of headphone that sucks and there are many more.

It aint as simple as saying wire>BT. That is like arguing that gasoline engines are more powerful than diesel engines. It all depends on the engines (headphones) in question.
