Honestly, the hd800s is my preferred choice, but only after eq. Even stock, it’s very neutral sounding, a little peaky at 6k but it’s nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. With proper eq (that sounds good to you), I personally think they’re the better listen. Not as engaging as the Arya, but amazing for relaxing and listening, since everything is nicely diffused and never close/intimate to your ears.

The Arya aren’t as wide (they’re pretty close, but you’ll likely notice it if you compare them) their presentation is ever so slightly more engaging. Bass is better, but it’s also really nice on the hd800s (just don’t expect the same level of quantity without eq, although I’m satisfied with the warmth as is). The Arya is a bit taller/bigger sounding, but it’s difficult to pick up on after A/Bing them. They’re very similar sounding headphones, but the hd800s are technically better and more resolving overall. They’re also slightly bigger sounding of the two, if soundstage king is the mantra you want to have in your rig. You can’t go wrong with either though

Now you’re making more sense than your previous generalizations. Almost everyone in the hobby gets a lemon, but to generalize that a brand is “going downhill” is like me saying that Sennheisers are poorly built because my previous HD800 headphone had a cracked headband (true occurrence) is the same thing. Cheers!

Some recordings do though 😂, I listen to indian music and some recordings the singer is literally behind me singing to my neck or behind me to the right side , keep in mind that some of these songs are from 80s and i usually experience is with my Fidelio X2HR ( in my experience they feel like they have literally been tuned to sound like a 5 channel system and in some songs it's clearly evident )

You forgot 2x 3-pin XLR that Tyll basically adopted during the early 2000s, and the RSA balanced jack that was somewhat "popular" (as far as the head-fi community went) back in the late 2000s. Might be a few more obscure ones that I'm forgetting - Sony's 2x 3.5mm connector, and the 2x 6.3mm connector.

Anyways, I'd also make the 3.5mm connector A-tier, 6.3mm B-tier, and 4-pin C-tier.
