I've always loved the idea of 4.4 Pentaconn balanced... but since, I've stumbled accross many faulty 4.4 terminations, the ol' reliable 6.35 mm (1/4") jack still remains the best in my heart.

They are finicky and picky as shit...imeen which mini xlr? 4 prong or three, and the lack of devices between each..nah son, I've had so many mini xlr cables that weren't compatible to the devices I had--even when the connects lined up. It's a non starter. I own Audio-GD amps that can't use mini xlr ( on their ACSS connections) unless its from them and theyre edition compatible, and I've owned a RHA portable amp with mini xlr capability that never worked with any mini xlr cable I bought. Trash....it gets an F

Sound Blaster Z > G6

I actually switched to Z from G6 just recently, such an improvement. The Z and ZxR differentiate in amp with ZxR using TPA6120 instead of JRC 2114. The chips configuration of ZxR is actually similar to my FX-Audio X6.

Only Z combined with an amp made my current production HD600 enjoyable. Neither G6, X6 or cheap dongles managed that.

u/smalg2, YES!! ! I have the same exact impression as you! My ER2XR also doesn't sound like the FR curves I found. "Muted", I'm not sure of, but Dark is definitely how I describe them.
However, as others have mentioned, their midrange is their strength, and I use them primarily when I want intimate vocals or quiet immersive instrumentals.
I do EQ a lot so I have a few profiles for them, but since the FR on internet is not helpful, I gotta do it mostly with my own ears.

>Can speaker systems have soundstage and solid imaging like a pair of headphones though

Yes, even a pair of 179€ Adam Audio T5V, angled at 30 - 45 degrees, will outperform ANY headphone, in regards to soundstage AND imaging! In comparison even the HD 800(S) feels like watching a 3D movie, without wearing the glasses! Be mindful though, soundstage and imaging is only one part of the experience and probably the least important one imho.

>Also with speakers to experience perfect soundstage you have to sit in an exact position right ?

Yes.
