nah, my hearings always clear afterwards, and disorientation only happens cause of the screen, not the sound! im making sure to just use them as low as i can, even if it'd be fine lol

if you’re listening at low volumes there’s probably nothing to worry about. do you feel disoriented? is your hearing muffled or distorted after listening? if the answer is no then like, don’t worry about it

Outside of the cable mod for porta pros, I switched to iems for the cable issue; cables are detachable so easy replacement if they break. And some iems are semi-open back like the porta pros too!

As a fellow mac user, I'll just say what I use. For ripping, since its native and easy, Apple Music. XLD is good for transcoding. Music files are on an external hard drive, and I use either Colibri (I prefer its equalizer) or Pine player (for flac files).
For HP EQ software profiles, choices are limited more or less to eqMac or soundsource (both $30-$40). I don't use either. I looked up orartory1990 and crinacle's presets and adjusted to taste but now I just do it by ear.
CDs are all ripped to 16/44. Upscaling to 24/96 just makes the files bigger but doesn't add any quality to the music. If you want, you can buy hi-res files. I rip most everything to ALAC or AIFF as they are native to mac.
That's all I can think of; let me know if you have any questions. Good luck with the new gear! I love my Arya, hope you love yours!

Sorry, posted in the wrong place. In the meantime, my wife got me some headphones so I am charging those now and they seem like they'll hook up :)

This is good advice - thanks for making me feel somewhat less crazy. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

I think the Crushers have a "vibrator" type of bass boost which doesn't really increase volume, just makes you feel the bass more.

On or off, just don't turn up the volume too loud. To much bass is bad because it makes a lot of air pressure inside the ear but that's also at high volume. Just don't listen to loud in general.

yea that's what i heard,, so does that mean if the bass slider is off, all should be good?? idk anything about any of this stuff lmao

If anything, the bass boost is the thing that's going to cause hearing loss.

I'm glad I could help.. The Arya V2 doesn't have a good rep because of a huge gap they have in the frequency response, although that should be possible to correct with equalization. Which is why I find most headphones reviews useless since they only talk about each headphone raw as if equalizing wasn't a thing.

This post has been removed. Please note the following rule:
>Rule 2: Ask purchase help questions in the Shopping and Setup Help Desk found at https://reddit.com/r/headphones/about/sticky > >Requests for product opinions, comparisons, and general purchase advice must be made in the dedicated Shopping and Setup Help Desk found at /r/headphones/about/sticky instead of a new post.
You may also use r/headphoneadvice but please search their resources and familiarize yourself with their rules first before posting.
What questions are considered purchase advice?
-
A request for product suggestions, comparison requests, or opinion requests fall under the purchase advice rule. These can often be found by searching first.
-
Any suggestion or comparison request pertaining to headphones, IEMs, DACs, amps, or other accessories should be directed to the purchase help thread or r/headphoneadvice.
-
Asking the subreddit to help make a decision to buy a product does fall under this rule (e.g. "should I get dekoni pads for my HD650?").
Why does this rule even exist?
-
In short, this is a large subreddit with a high volume. We want to help, but it's important to keep things organized to keep the sub fun. Thanks for your understanding.
-
A more detailed explanation about this rule can be found here.
What if the link doesn't work?
- The post can usually be found on the top r/headphones, and titled Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk.

I have a few CDs. The majority, 90% of them I borrowed from my local library. They had all of Type O Negative and Marilyn Manson. So I thought since I'm getting all new gear. I'd just re-rip everything. as a lot of my music is from DLs from torrent.

Audio Ripping Software - dBpoweramp/Exact Audio Copy (EAC)/X Lossless Decoder (XLD)
-
Music Player - Roon Player with HQ Player (Paid Subscription) or JRiver, IINA.
-
EQ Software - If you get Roon, you can use that for the EQ or get this if you use a different player (Get eqMAC. The Full paid version)
-
I don't know

Why the hell? Lossless rips must be bitperfect, so you could throw away your CDs and still have the perfect copies of them. Resampling on a player side is perfectly fine.

Thank you for your kind help. You've answered my questions completely. I like you, will be buying the Arya, just not the Stealth. I don't think my ears would tell the difference. And the Focal Radiance for late night gaming/movies.

Oh, I understand your question now. The RCA maximum output value is 3.5V and for the XLR output it's 6.9V. However you can control the volume to avoid saturating your preamp input so that shouldn't be a problem.
In any case, you won't burn anything. If the input signal is too high you would just get a distorted output because of clipping at the input so you'd have to gradually increase the ADI-2's volume until you start noticing a degradation in sound.
Edit: you don't need the THX-887, you'd just be adding noise to the system and reducing SNR. Most likely imperceptible but still unnecessary. The ADI-2's built-in amp should be far superior, especially considering the integration with the dac that allows to balance digital and analog amplification to maintain the highest possible dynamic range and SNR.

ehhh you’re fine probably. hearing damage is almost exclusively based on decibel loudness level.
