I personally didn't take the time to read the text because it didn't look like a scientifical document. No explicite methodology part and so on. The only thing that can't be subject to personal opinion are graphs. About the figure 17, it's not the K371, it's another headphone on the graph.

I had no intentions to support a position. Do you know what cognitive biases are ? I hope yes because I know what they are. I'm not the kind of people that want to manipulate others.

From What I can remember

  • Anole VX has really top tier resolution but is too airy that it doesnt sound natural in some songs
  • ier z1r sound really good on some songs but has a weird midrange timbre on some songs
  • monarch find it to be not resolving enough

I still kep my andro ogs to this day and bought a 2020 ver cuz I really liked their soundsid

Because the seemingly-trite saying of "it's about the journey, not the destination" is both true, and universal, and one would gain the most from living in the moment (within reason).

And if the moment happens to call for obsessive research, the pursuit of unobtainable perfection, lengthy conversations and reviews, community and fulfilliment?

Then so be it.

Yes, those things you're doing are for a future-something, but it's the enjoyment of what you're doing in the here and now that makes it truly special/worthwhile.

>so much more air like the notes pop out of a black hole and yet the notes have more body too, more resonance, they're rich and fun instead of thin and analytical.

THIS MEANS LITERALLY NOTHING...

I too can describe sound in a fancy way that means fuck all :)

OP could have just as well described the sound as "Refreshingly esoteric, with a tinch of quantized energy, which bubbles to the surface of a quiet sea, amidst the fog of clarity, bursting into colorfoul spectrums and thus enltightening my ears"

Do you not see how OPs description is a meaningless mumbo jumbo of nonsense????

I think the K5 Pro is a flawed product and shouldn't be bought.

You kinda say it yourself in the review: in neutral setting the audio sounds flat and lifeless. Reason for that is, when the treble/bass knob is neutral position it doesnt have a flat frequency response, the bass is still 3-4dB too little and the treble also falls of like 1-2dB.

So its not a DAC with optional EQ, its a DAC thats always EQ'd. You either have too little or too much bass. Is impossible to make your headphone sound like its supposed to sound, which for me personally isnt acceptable for that price, I would rather listen to an apple dongle than to this DAC.

You're in a tough spot, since MDR-7506 aren't bad headphones to begin with, at least based on measurements.

I haven't heard those, but it seems they have decent bass boost that doesn't bleed into the midrange, no excessive warmth, proper ear gain with maybe too much upper midrange and treble. It's all going to be "same, but different" from now on, especially if your friend already seems to have this attitude:)

I've had an occasion to listen to a Stax SR-007 (first version) and I wasn't blown away. I didn't hear all the detail or resolution I expected, based on what you can read online. Sure, they were sounding good, but that's it. No mind was blown. I'm more impressed by my Samsung Buds 2 since do seem to over-exaggerate detail (8 kHz boost) while still having a pleasant tonality overall. And I'm lucky to be one of the people who does experience soundstage in IEMs, at least with the music I listen to (soundstage is very dependent on the recording, though for may people IEMs will always sound closed-in).

I suppose if you really want to blow minds, for $200 you can get a pair of decent monitor speakers (JBL 305, Kali LP-6) and some good weed :) (if you don't have moral objections, legal issues with that in your country and no mental health risks like a history of schizophrenia or depression in your family, of course).

EDIT: Looks like a pair of JBL 305 is $300 and not $200.
