See that's what I was thinking. It's a brand new pc (built it mid December 2022), with an Asrock z790 Motherboard. I'm not for sure on exactly how this whole dac/amp deal works but from I read I didn't think id notice much of a difference. But I was proven wrong. Why? I dont know. But i also dont care because its beautiful and im excited as hell for the Beyer's to show up haha

I'll be honest in saying that you should hear no difference between onboard audio and a cheap amp/DAC, if you have modern (2018+) motherboard.

The change in sound is your motherboard output probably has audio enhancement turned on which does alter sound usually for the worst

after 5 years still enjoying usb audio player pro for long critical sessions and listen with bt when working out- drawing-daily walks with poweramp on my lg v20 with beyerdynamic dt 770 250ohms i dont plan on updating for a while at least for the next few years. Really enjoying my SIMPLE SETUP. In the end it always has been about the music and both of these apps do it beautifully. But i do love and enjoy seeing other peepz setups and audio rigs as well. now go and enjoy your music the WAY you want. blessings

I love it! Most DAP’s will put out good if not great sound. A nice pair of IEM’s and a collection of great music and you are set!

I’d heard these OG crushers were fragile, but I’ve had these for over 4 years and they’ve never shown any signs of breaking. Was taking it out of my locker at work and they caught on the edge and bam, instantly snapped. End of an era… I’m mainly pissed cause now my options are a: hunt down my lightning to aux converter and bring a pair of wired headphones to work (mainly an issue because all of my wired headphones are either complete shit or so good I’d worry about them getting stolen) or b: use my wireless earbuds, which means that my ears are gonna be frozen on my walk down to work tomorrow. No good middle ground here, sadly…

Such a shame to hear that, of course hearing health is top priority. I had a 3 year old Heresy with no issues. I do recommend JDS Atom Amp if you are looking for another amp, ifi zen can is also a good choice.

Ty! Actually that is a great idea! Thankfully my house is pretty quiet but I wish I would have thought of that sooner! Still might do it just to give my ears a rest at night!

I really want to like Schiit, their designs are great, they offer amazing power for the money, and they're inexpensive. However it appears they cut corners to make that happen. Agreed!! The more I think about, the more I lean to just getting an Atom. Wish I had sooner tbh!

I wish I knew! I'm bookmarking this in hopes you get an answer, cause I'd like to know too.

I sleep with earplugs in almost every night, but I just use the generic purple ones from my local pharmacy. They're fine as long as I lie still on my back for 20 minutes after putting them in before turning on my side.
