Have you ever considered that headphones in general just aren't fir you? You seem to be wanting a sound that doesn't really exist. Harman isn't a million miles away from flat. I've played with EQ with the aim of making stuff "flat" before and you just end up with an ass load of mids and not much else.

Yes definitely. They are even more smaller, more bassy, have more detail retrieval and have a better soundstage due to the open grill. Which also means they don’t isolate well. I often times prefer E3000 to my E5000 since the E5000 can sometimes sound very dark. But when amped correctly they do shine.

E1000s sound kind of cheap when compared directly. You get what you pay for I guess. If you don’t want bassy iem then E2000 is your bet.

That’s what I did. I now own Moondrop SSR and good old Blon bl03. They are my beater earphones. Won’t be buying them again. I use final E1k,E3k,E5k,A4k and will buy the tws and B2 soon. Final’s house sound kind of clicked with me the first time I listened to E3000

This weekend I came to the same conclusion after ordering my last pairs of ChiFi IEMS, call it buyers remorse. I ordered the QKZ x HBB and the Tin Hifi C2. Currently have the 7Hz Zero, CCA CRA and the Moondrop Quarks (OG, no DSP). I owned and sold KZ ZSN Pro, QKZ VK4 (non-OG) and the Moondrop Chu.

Funny thing is, that with all these ChiFi IEMs I mostly use my Final Audio E1000. Maybe I should just get the Final Audio E3000's, call it a day and forget about all of the rest :-D

I was thinking of selling my HD58X but don't think its worth the hassle. Gonna convert them to bluetooth wireless sometime instead as a little project for when Im cleaning up the house got some beats to listen to wirelessly.

I got the same impressions from HD600 to HD800, i feel like they are just direct upgrade in the same sound style (fatigueless clarity). but alot of people wont see it like that i think lol

One of the promo images from Tanchjim shows the chip, and the numbers on the chip can be barely made out in the image. To me, they looked like 338S00140 ACAD1841.

Googling the first number gives a bunch of articles discussing Apple’s lightning adapter, so it might be the same chip. The Apple adapter chip has a different second number, but that second number might just be a number indicating manufacturing run.

In any case, I own this dongle and I quite love it. I haven’t rigorously compared it to the Apple lightning adapter, but it certainly sounds very clean and noise free, and has a suitably low output impedance that works well with my very picky Andromedas. It is a bit physically heavy but the build quality is extremely nice, especially compared to the Apple adapter.

Shamefully, I actually got the Stargate because it looks pretty. It annoyed me to no end that the Apple adapter doesn’t match the silver cable for the Andromedas. If all that is in the Stargate is the same chip in the Apple adapter (which is audibly excellent and measures well) but in a package that’s substantially more robust and less ugly, well that’s great!

Wall of sound is the term I and some reviewers use to describe a flat and wide soundstage, like everything is on a flat surface without much sense of distance and layering. I personally dislike it, but then I know some who actively seeks that, so YMMV.

I haven’t heard the Atom so I can’t comment. I mostly review IEMs so I generally don’t pay much attention to desktop gear. A Fiio K7 is more than enough (though, again, a fellow IEM reviewer insists me to upgrade to K9).

In my experience, just grab a proper desktop setup (the one with external power supply rather than USB-C from laptop) from a reliable brand like Fiio, Schiit, Topping, etc., and you are done. Some people want to spend many thousands on these. Not me. An all in one like K7 or the Schiit stack is enough for me.

This is definitely going to be the year of 2DD's - assuming everyone isn't burnt out by summer. I think we'll see some DD/Planar hybrids and tribrids in the mid to upper price ranges, should be interesting.
