No, I ordered my amp minus the DAC. I heard mixed reviews on the internal DAC and wanted the flexibility of having a separate unit. I ended up with the Topping E30II, so far no complaints.

It's just infuriating that this is even necessary, though. I mean yes, everyone should know their way around EQ. Cool, I get that. But the thing is the goal shouldn't be so homogenous. It's been getting worse and worse as the years have gone by and it's like, dude, for higher end products can we please just leave that kind of tuning up to the listener? If you're buying an amp and balanced cables you probably know your way around an EQ.

I've had the same experience and honestly balanced didn't improve things.

The only ones I like more than my 6XX is the Focal Clear OG. The 6XX are such a good deal.

I do hope that with time, more fans are able to look back and appreciate it. It played a huge role in my music formative years.

The 6X0 is end game for sure. I get it. I don’t know much about the RME ADI-2. You can do your EQ’ing on it? Sounds dope. And looking at the price tag, sounds like I should stay away from it.

Yeah, I still love my HD6XXs too. I’ll never sell them. I almost didn’t upgrade at all because there’s really no need. With the Apple dongle, they’re my “walk around the apartment” headphone now. Apparently I need music blaring through my ears at all hours.

Yeah, I’ve been really curious about the Clear. I’ve never heard it. I’ve read & seen a bunch of reviews that describe it as more of an intimate headphone tho. Since I was looking for something wider (and different from the 6XX), I didn’t even try it. I know people love it tho - and I’d love to try it.

My goal is to stop spending money in this hobby. We’ll see if that ever happens, haha.

did you try biodynamics like denons or fostex th900, those are king in the headphone world when it comes to sub bass punch
