Hi! I got my hd560s like 2 weeks ago, upgraded from the razer barracuda x.

They did not blow me away, i did not notice a different at first. I did however find myself listening to music more and more, and i sang along more, and i danced more.

In my experience this is a sound you grow into, and you'll be extremely happy you did. But it's not as drastic a change as I expected, and you might expect it to be.

Btw: it doesn't need an amp. I run it through a Samsung dongle which has an amp but the 3.5 jack from my laptop does the job.

Yet the distortion on the hd650 is a bit lower than the HD800. Also its a moot point because with the exact same frequency response they do not sound the same. Now throw the sundara in there with the exact FR, it will not sound like either of them. The unique flavor is derived from the over all construction and drivers despite having the same FR.

Thanks for the comment. Its a bit difficult to explore when testing options are limited. So the E10 were indeed bright to you too. TBH I like the brightness more than the darkness but it looks solvable through EQ.

Its just a concern of if I will get more resolution upgrading the E10k. I will be fine with EQing for the treble-bass. Did you notice more clarity or detail upgrading from the E10k?

A lot of people will say dacs and amps sound the same. Some of us think they sound different. I personally thought the E10k was a little bright and grainy. It was one of the first dac/amps I tried.

Also gave up on the idea of a "correct" sound. I've tried several amps that measured similarly, but sounded quite different to my ears. Just find something to your preferences. If you like the sound out of your laptop, just use that.
