EQ doesn’t really change what makes a headphone unique. Properly EQing a headphone makes up for anomalies and shortcomings in the FR. You’re never going to get an LCD2 to sound like an hd800, if you get what I’m saying.

Yeah I feel you! When I began in the hobby back in 2016 I had the HD598 and I used them with an old iPod Touch, while it did sound good, when I finally took the risk of buying a Dragonfly Red DAC/AMP the difference in sound quality was immediately noticeable. I'm not saying it's going to sounds like a totally different headphone but, it will make it come alive for sure. So yeah I think the JDS atom should indeed make a significant difference in musical enjoyment, the laptop is definitely not giving you the full potential.

If it is louder, you will hear more bass and more treble ( Google Fletcher Munson). A louder bass will mask the midrange.

Another might be a difference in output impedance. This will affect the damping. If the PC has a higher impedance, you get a less controlled bass. However, as the HD6xx is probably 300 Ohm, I wonder if the impact will be that big.

The 6xx are my first good headphones. While I do love them, I feel like the I'm not using them to the fullest potential with the E10k though I might also be wrong seeing a lot of mixed opinions in this sub reddit.

Is it worth upgrading to the JDS atom? Also coming back to the post, do you possibly know the reason why the two sounds different and which one is possibly the real sound of the headphone?

The 560s is really easy to drive out of just about anything. I run them out of my iPhone with the lighting dongle and they're plenty loud at half volume. Is it possible to get a US Apple Dongle by importing it?

The 560s will probably sound find straight out of your laptop.

yeah.

I laid it out for myself: LCD-X is a great musical headphone compared to the 800s, clears, and aeon2s.

And if I wanted to be reasonable with the money, LCD-X is the right choice.

Elites, however, are also not for everyone, since they prioritize fun and musicality over the accuracy of reproduction and other technicalities. But, if the Elite fit your sounds preferences they do become worth the asking price.

all opinions are of course based on my own listening experience so opinions may vary, quite a bit.

It's the modern infomercial, the indie-accessible marketing stream. Plenty of crap, but every now and then the Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine is actually a pretty good idea, or the Ginsu knives are actually pretty sharp and durable. It's just an alternative way to market something when you don't have a big brand's name behind you.

I may pull the trigger on the elites too. They sound awesome!

The LCD-X really is great. Definitely not for everyone due to their analytical signature. It becomes way more coherent once you eq though. From what I’ve read and experienced they’re some of the best responding headphones to a proper eq curve.

Use your phone via a usb. Listening for awhile then switch back to the windows. Do you hear a difference?

Use the toslink from your windows as your input and see if it sounds different to you.

I get it though. Windows becomes an obstacle. Get the Dolby app and enable that on windows.

Literally so many options. Knowing all the options is the struggle ;)

More points of failure. Need it on each source I use and would want a custom profile for every output device.

Can't guarantee anything, everyone has a different experience with this stuff, at least in my case, i was definitely mind blown, you could not, who knows, although if you say "blow my mind even on the cheapest of headsets." I'm quite positive.

>Really struggling to understand the ease of drivability

Unless you have like a really, really bad source , they should be fine.

>Please bear in mind I am in England so I think the Dongles here are the Undervolted EU ones.

In that case, i would rather look into other Dongles, maybe from tempotec

I'm not sure. There doesn't seem to be many measurments of it.

Here is HobbyTalk's measurment of it, unfortunately he doesn't have the same Harman target to compare, so this is comparing with the Truthear Zero https://hobbytalk.squig.link/?share=Hobby_Talk_IEM_Preference_2022_Target,JBL_Endurance_Run,Truthear_Zero

Compared to mine with the truthear Zero https://suporsalad.squig.link/?share=Harman_IEM_Target,JBL_Endurance_Run,Truthear_Zero

I wonder if maybe there is a bit of difference with leakage and the coupler. I'm using just the 711 coupler with the metal end for IEMs which is similar to what crinacle uses. I believe Sean olive measured his in a Gras 45CA with the pinna
