Because there’s nothing wrong with the focal clear og and b2dusk that needs to be eq’d away. I like their stick sound so why bother?

Provides better sub bass response due to a better seal around the ears. Doesn't really change anything else sound-wise.

What this does is give you ability to use other earpads that don't cost a fortune to replace a year or two down the road.

The other thing is knowing you won't be snapping the original headband due to the cheap plastic.

I don't use it for a few reasons, I like to use a variety of IEMs and headphones for their individual sound signature, I want to hear someone else's idea of good sound. I also know for certain that if I started using it I would get obsessive about it and it would become a problem, I would never be satisfied with the outcome of my own use of EQ however adept I was at it. I want to spend as little time as possible tinkering with phone apps and settings, plus I'm really lazy.

The fact that you get downvoted is very interesting, because people are presumably offended by a different preference. That is super weird but at the same time doesn’t surprise me at all. All you say is that you don’t like to EQ your gear.

I'd even 1 up you on this one, I want high end koss PERIOD

I love every product I've bought from koss (maybe an exception here and there), but their engineers are just trolling us at this point. I'm fully convinced that they're acting maliciously on purpose to make the shittiest most fragile headphones as possible. Some of the oversights are so blatant with easy solutions that it's hard to think that it's a coincidence. Kph30i headband failure and KPH40 adhesive failure are all but guaranteed to happen within a year of ownership. 12 months of moderate daily use will break at least 60% of the time if not more.

I know your post is focusing on sound improvements, which I'd like to see improved upon as well, but i'm not throwing over $100 on anything until koss can pull up their pants and get their shit together, regardless of how good they sound.

Some eq’s that aren’t linear phase can actually shift the stereo image too much. But nowadays, most digital eq do not present this problem, so as long as you don’t drastically change the FR, there’s really no reason not to use it

Look into the SoCas mod. I ended up getting the full enclosure for oval pads and ended up also purchasing the aluminum frame. Those 2 things combined makes this the best for under $1000.

If I'm listening for my own enjoyment I'll absolutely make use of EQ. If I'm mixing material, that's a different story altogether.

That dual tuning thing seems like a bullshit feature that occured to someone while putting the tips on, like marketing an earphone as noise cancelling just because it plugs the ear.

The Z12 have better vocals, but has a spicie treble. for technical performance, they are up to par, but for it's price the ie200 is better than the ie300. the ie200 and the z12 is really competing with each other. i really can't choose between the two, but for your money's worth, the z12 gives you much more. better cables and stock tips, the ie200 is very very lightweight and comfortable tho.

Try a bunch of different tips, the sound and comfort will be different in every pair of ears. I try many tips over several weeks and eventually settle on one, JVC Spiral Dots, Comply foam and Sony triple comfort are my most used. Almost all of the most popular and easily obtainable tips fit the Sennheiser IEMs, the absence of that foam insert in the core doesn't seem to make a discernable difference.
