Is it because the adults/parents of nowadays are more conscious about what video games are and how they function, or were the past years so wild that something being age appropiate wasn't even in consideration. I remember playing D2 at a "gaming cafe" at 6 and nobody batting an eye about it (other adults, I mean, as my parents wouldn't have a clue what I was playing)

You're not missing much really.... BL2 stands on its own very well. Easily has one of the best antagonists of any game, in any genre, let alone fps'.

BL3 makes great strides in gameplay over BL2... but the story and writing in 2 are still FAR better than 3.

Honestly coming from Diablo and Path of Exile, Minecraft Dungeons is brutal. Unless i'm missing something. I'm constantly getting hit with no way to block and can only refill health like every minute. Everytime I play with my kids we die on easy. My only option is to just go full bow and arrow and hit everything from distance. I'd play it way more if it wasn't so difficult.

I would recommend playing the first game. It has aged, but it's not the worst. Playing the first game will also help give a proper connection to the characters rather than just watching all the cutscenes. And it would help cement the world, which does circle back a little bit in 2. Seeing the actual difference firsthand is more impactful than just playing 2.

need to? no, absolutely not

the first one is pretty alright tho, and should be played

but bl2 is pretty awesome, and all teh DLC is pretty great

the DLC for the first game is a bit lacklustre in comparison

but if you ever intend to play the first, I would play it first

it'll feel.....lacking if you go back to it after getting used to BL2

I'd recommend playing them both starting with 1. The secret armory of general knoxx dlc for the first game is one of the best dlcs ever. Its a fantastic chill game.

BL2 has a lot more enemy variety. Of course. They stepped it up with their second installment.
