Learning how to use twin sticks, I suggest The Witness. However, if she didn't like Portal, she might not like that either.

My second suggestion is Minecraft, and possibly Breath of the Wild since you have a Switch (though it might be too hard). If she still wants more narrative-oriented games, you could try The Outer Worlds on an easy difficulty.

I love all my kids equally. ;P

2 & 4 are functionally the same. So I guess if they're endless and you can literally never reach the end of reviving / additional enemies, that would be the worst. But there's exactly 1 game I know of that Ever did that, and it was awesome because it was part of the narrative and necessary. ;P

The issue with you question is that I can think of as many enjoyable variants of those items as I can think of badly implemented versions, and so none of them stand out "By Design".

YuGiOh Duel Links.

I fuckin love the game but if you're fine spending real money in game instead of earning gems then you can just keep opening box sets until you have all the best cards and synergy.

The only saving grace is that the draw order is random, but if you know what you're doing when you build your deck then you can use several cards that heavily influence the draw order without putting you on your back foot.

Hell, I was in a ranked match and I was able to special summon Blue Eyes Alternate White Dragon on the second turn by showing him the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand that I drew before the first turn. By the 4th turn he was down to 600/4000 life points and I summoned Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon just to rub salt in the wound.

That wasn't even with an optimized deck, I was still lacking several cards to actually optimize it.

On the MMO front there's both Final Fantasy XIV and Star Wars The Old Republic. They're a little more story focused, but you can play a decent chunk of the content without paying anything(though FFXIV is a subscription game like WoW at some point).

You can also get Gamepass for like $1 for the first month and try out a lot of games.

Also, I've been looking for a new MMO after getting tired of WoW: You know how ESO is doing these days, and if it's worth getting into?
