I'm gonna be honest, I enjoyed 2's story but I did not feel a lot of emotional weight and/or momentum on my playthrough. I felt during 1 I had such an epic journey where it all came down to a climax and Joel made a huge impactful decision, while in 2 when I was on Ellie's journey, all I kept thinking was "turn back, turn back, turn back"

Cause inflation is real, I can't and refuse to buy the same game(s) on every console. Especially if they now go for $70 to start, plus season passes, plus dlc every 6 months. Find a decent set up you like and stop giving these developers your money, it's not like they are pumping out "original 10/10" kind of games anymore. Lol 🤣

I haven’t seen an option for it because there isn’t a need for it, everything is optimized already. They wouldn’t even need to add it so long as the game could detect which system it is running on, which would be simple to accomplish. Games that can auto detect settings isn’t anything new anyway, and will probably be even more accurate because rather then working with a mishmash of parts they really only will need to work with a handful of different models.

This is one of the problems I also had with the second game. It kind of felt to me like the sacrifices of Tess, Bill, Henry and Sam and others were pretty much an afterthought. And that now it just became very personal, which felt off key given the first game highlighting how when the one moment came where Joel had to make a utilitarian decision, he did not

Only played Combat Evolved on PC when it originally came out. Currently playing the MCC collection. Halo 2 didn't do much for me, 3 + ODST were good. Really enjoying Reach (which is as far as I've got).

Personally I think I've been spoilt with PC FPS games though.

You mean the second game? No.

My problem with the second game is that the stakes went from how it could affect the world as a whole, along with how personal trauma and experiences could affect your choices, relationships, and outlook on the world.

The second game took all of that, and instead of building on it, just threw it away for an entirely different theme, and makes the ending of the first feel flat with no satisfying resolution.

As PC isn't an option for you it comes down to weighing titles -- of which there are a number of exclusives for both platforms in your situation -- and services.

That sounds like it would be really annoying for the people making the video games.

I don't have a PS5 of Xbox Series so I gotta ask...do the games have "make the graphics look better or worse" settings in the options the way PC games have for so long?

The diminishing returns and the fight against it are why it's stupid that Sony and Microsoft are willing to sell at a loss. Tons of games have meh graphics and sell insanely well. I say just make the system be whatever it is and leave it like that until you can affordably make a new system to take its place. Those who care so much about top tier visuals can enjoy the PC rat race.
