There was a free to play fps called combat arms, it had a weapon loaning system where you rented guns for up to 90 days for in game currency (that you had to grind for) and obviously it was better than your default gun. Guns had premium variants that were straight upgrades. You could also pay to get grenade launchers and shit. It was so blatantly pay to win, it makes me cry thinking about it since it was a reasonably fun arcadey shooter.

I'm thinking more that in time once discussion and hype are gone it may not be apparent that these are even remakes to some And therefore that could have impact on a new generation of gamers.

Of course, no game should need to use ads to get any revenue. On the other hand, I paid for an incomplete game with features I can not use unless I pay for a membership to engage with multiplayer. I dunno who started this advertisement in mobile games, nor am I a fan of it, but as you and others mentioned, people see mobile games not on the same level as Pc or console games. Why is that?

If you have the money then I'd say go for the remake. It has better and more modern controls, brand new systems that make the world more immersive, better story changes (in my opinion), changes to the weapons that are also in my opinion better than the OG, the Ishimura is now fully explorable and is no longer fully linear, and they fixed the most tedious portions of the OG.

It's one of those things that wouldn't hurt, but I'm not terribly bothered by them not being labelled as such. It seems like the kind of thing you should find out about just from hearing about the game online anyway.
