I do create games on my own, being forced to start working on games with ads. So yeah, I am grown up. Thank you for commenting on this post, please check out my other stuff or at least the Wolfpit Games.

As a game developer for mobile devices I am frustrated that people do not want to pay for my games but are only interested in them if they are free. I do paid my games which I play, so yeah, label this as trolling.

It is astounding how many people reacted to this dumb post whithin a shorr period of time but aren't reacting when I post content.

Ads is probably the biggest, and I cannot stress this enough, #1 thing no one EVER wants to see in games. Ads are disruptive, annoying, and persistent.

If game companies put an ad in the game, there is ZERO CHANCE they will say “oh now we can give out games away for free”. No. They will still sell you the game and have bullshit ads.

That’s probably the single thing everyone everywhere, except you apparently, agree that we never want.

I like paying money fore the things I love and look back fondly at it.

Its not a Video game series but I paid about 200€ fore my favorite series (Blue Rays and Mangas) and I look foreward to pay 130 to 150€ more once the Blue Rays of season 2 come out in my country. This series earned my money so I am happy to pay it.

I feel simular about Video games.

Also I am pretty good at picking stuff I will like. I rearly regret having bought a game.

As a cost/time enjoyment, videogames (particularly elden ring) are better than almost any other media.

If we're looking at a fresh AAA title, single player linear narrative (God of War) you're looking at £2 an hour.

Open world RPGs, Inc Elden Ring might be less than £1 an hour.

Multiplayer games (CoD etc) may have even better value, if you enjoy putting hours in.

Now consider what you want. To fund the huge cost of making a game in its entirety, you'd need a lot of money. Then the dev, publisher etc need a profit. So the ads have to be really really good value for the advertiser.

That means they have to be intrusive. Interrupting your narrative. Imagine in Elden Ring fighting for hours up to a boss room, you step into the fog and ...

BLAM... Do you need a razer thingymaboob? This thingy maboob is 1% better in three benchmarks that we chose because we liked that the numbers were higher. But it now only £1534 at your local store!

Every fucking time you die. 30 seconds of unskippable, poorly targeted dross. Screaming at you, begging you to buy their shit, and not their competitors.

It. Would. Break. The. Game.
