Underrated refers to ratings or the general opinion of something.

The game (PS5) has a 86% critic score on Meta right now. That's fair. Although the users score PS5/PC is at like 7.5 and 6.5. So that is kind of 'underrated'. Not sure why thats so low there. Did it get bombed or something?

Underappreciated, maybe.

My first year playing in the extra life charity game night 3 friends and I played Gears of War 3 horde for 36 hours for a little guy named Dominic who was dying of Cancer at 3 years old. We all picked a variation of Dom and it was one of the funnest gaming nights of my life. We raised $7300 for his family to take him to a treatment center in Florida. His dad worked in another department at the paper I was at. And now years later my friends and I play in the event every year since, we pick a random person and we raise money and have a blast. Best charity ever!

Rocket League comes to mind right away.

Bomberman is really fun in ranked, but a lot of people don't take it seriously because of how the game looks.

Racing games can be competitive if you try to set leaderboard scores, and Xbox has Forza which is a great series.

Does Xbox have any notable rhythm games? Genuinely not sure, but those might be an option.

Tetris / Tetris Effect could satisfy a competitive itch, if you try to set PR/high scores.

Unfortunately if you don't want to engage in anything team based, or fighting games, then your options on Xbox are a little limited. Most will come down, in some way, to competing against a leaderboard or against yourself (ie beating personal high scores, time trials, etc). That's....not necessarily a bad thing. I think that type of competition is way less toxic than other mainstream competitive games anyway.

You could also learn speed running of a game you enjoy? It's a personal journey, but it can also be highly competitive, if you want it to be. It's pretty enjoyable.

I think it's getting pretty close, but then every new generation looks pretty close until you see the next one.

The Nanite stuff in unreal engine 5 games is very impressive though.

I think the biggest barriers are still characters and face animation, even in triple A games it still looks pretty bad.

I'd be interested to see what they could do if they did something like LA Noire these days, but everyone seemed to give up on the technology after that game. If they did it again today with 8k face textures etc. it would probably look amazing.
