This was my only problem with Marvel Midnight Suns. Not only was the 2K launcher annoying as hell, but it severely impacted the performance of the game.

If you've got it, do yourself a favor, disable the launcher. It's easy to find guides for doing so, and it'll improve the game considerably.

But for the life of me I can't see how this passed QA, when the problem isn't even the game itself.

Look, if someone tells you he is high, he either wants to tell you that you should not expect too much of him right now because he is in "chill mode" or he is trying to find people who share the same mood as him. Same for beeing drunk. Its fun to play with other drunk people because the sense of humor is shared more.

Think about it this way: If you want to tryhard ranked playmode, you will probably tell other people that you wanna go full tryhard because you want to group up with people sharing the same mood with you.

I think its just a natural way to communicate with each other.

Does that make sense? For me it does :)

If anything, it was overrated. Not to say that it was bad, but it got more praise than it was due because it was literally the ONLY real PS5 exclusive outside of Demon's Souls for a good long time. It was a solid 7 or 8 (depending on your tolerance for roguelike gameplay) and people were calling it a 10/10.

I think it is caring about NPCs/empathy. Spiritfarer was so unique in where you got to dive into the psychology of why people were still holding on to their lives.

Every now and then there is a game that comes up with a NPC you have to feed or help so they can survive, those are super heart breaking to me but it is often a quest with huge rewards…
