Yep. Upgraded graphics and mechanics are nice, but not when the resulting remake is a worse game than the original, and especially not at the price they sell remakes lol the overwhelming majority of old games still plays well, barring some exceptions, and I think old graphics and old mechanics actually add to the experience

The Switch Lite is the cheapest model and it is HANDHELD ONLY.

The regular Switch and OLED Switch can be played handheld or connected to the TV. The only big difference between these two is the screen quality in handheld mode. OLED is better but more $$.

Get some extra controllers and a screen protector (because kid).

Nintendo is a fantastic choice for kid friendly games.

No need to install Epic client.

I just stay logged into the Epic website and claim the games from there using browser on pc or phone. It's faster.

I have sent up an alarm to beep me when the next free one rolls around.

I know I'll never play 99% of the free games so I mindlessly claim one that looks vaguely interesting and CBA to download the client.

It is ridiculous indeed. With just my steam games, I now have a launcher for Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar and even still Origin (or again actually), because EA reverted back to Origin (PC only) for Sims 3 players, because the EA launcher will not start the game with (store) dlc.

I miss the times where you just bought a game, installed it, perhaps download some extra updates for the game itself and you were actually ready to play.

And man, that EA launcher! 😭

I can get a dev perspective on the topic even though I’m not a game dev. Each game is going to have someone in charge who is balancing stake holder feedback, developer concerns, and vision. Something like photo realism is going to be really hard to get through. It’s expensive and time consuming which will make a lot of stake holders say no. It’s difficult if not impossible for developers to do it with other requirements (like how well it runs on certain PCs, consoles supported, or delivery schedules), and then that has to be the idea from the start (or vision). It’s really the most stringent decision for all three. More than likely the project doesn’t go perfect so it’s the first thing to go.
