Man this takes me back...

The MP7 was a broken monster back then. The speed of an SMG with the range of an AR that everyone used.

Almost as bad as the Akimbo FMG9s. Those things only worked at close range, but instantly deleted you.

The FAD was also very underrated. People called it trash for being the last weapon unlocked in the entire game, but it was basically an M4 on steroids because it shot as fast as an SMG.

Lastly, I felt like a genius when I realized how the Javelin rocket launcher was supposed to work. Almost no one knew how to counter it since it was basically a handheld predator missle that nobody could see coming until it was too late.

Man, remember when COD games used to offer every weapon at launch and let you unlock them by just playing the game...

Lost Odyssey is a pretty deep game. The combat it pretty standard for a turn-based rpg. But some of the main characters are (not a spoiler) immortal, and they'll occasionally have a memory that triggers a reading section. Those are worth playing the game for, some of them are legit the best written things I've encountered in a videogame. Lot's of meditations on loss, impermanence, beauty, etc.

Fuck it one more because there’s too many in MGS to just pick one:

Having just seen the only woman he ever loved turned into Swiss cheese by a diazepam-riddled Solid Snake

Otacon: SNAKE!…what was she fighting for? What am I fighting for? What are YOU fighting for?!

Snake: If we make it through this together. I’ll tell you.

Sniper Wolf: I was born on a battlefield. Raised on a battlefield. Gunfire, sirens and screams... they were my lullabies... Hunted like dogs, day after day... driven from our ragged shelters... That... was my life. Each morning, I'd wake up... and find a few more of my family or friends dead beside me. I'd stare at the morning sun... and pray to make it through the day. The governments of the world turned a blind eye to our misery. I watched the brutality, the STUPIDITY of mankind through the scope of my rifle. Now I am nothing more than a dog.

Solid Snake: …Wolves are noble animals. They're not like dogs. In Yupik, the word for wolf is “Kegluneq,” and the Aleuts revere them as honorable cousins. They call mercenaries like us “dogs of war” it’s true everybody can be bought for one price or another. But you’re different. Self-contained. Solitary…

You’re no dog…

You’re a wolf.

Eh, it was good at the time but it is really hard to play a game as dated as new Vegas honestly. Such a class story so it is ashame, but the gameplay itself wasn't anything special at the time and is really not good if your standards are inline with modern day gaming. A remaster would do wonder for FO3 & New Vegas but who knows if that will ever happen

And you don’t need to be a dick

This is a gaming sub, for gaming discussion. Nothing wrong with asking a question and asking about the stuff people tell you. That’s literally the fucking purpose of the subreddit. Would be better if you went and watched some YouTube instead of posting on Reddit tbh

Same, earbuds make it feel like I’ve jammed Legos in my ear. The sound quality is usually significantly worse too. There are good, high-quality in ear speakers… but for like $800. Otherwise, over-ear blows them out of the water.

Source: audio/video tech who produces music in his free time. I use Audio Technica ATH M60 headphones. They don’t have a built in mic though. They’re around $200.

With the combat it's not really a case of it "holding up" or not as much as whether you like that kind of combat. If you like "real time with pause" combat the combat in KotOR definitely still holds up.

It's a bit janky though, but that was always the case.
