Fallout 4's story is just absurd. "Oh my infant child has been kidnapped by the man who murdered my wife... hey I wonder what's over here? Oooo I'm gonna build a settlement!"
And then when the Institute was clearly the best option they had to throw in a "Uh.. oh... well they kidnap and torture people!"

I'm probably in the minority in this, but I liked Fallout 4's story. There's a pretty big wtf moment in the middle of it that changes the entire mood for the rest of the game.

Story or gameplay? Damn

New Vegas had the better story. It was also made by some of the same devs that worked on Fallout 2. NV is closer to Fallout 3 than Fallout 3 was, the true sequel.

They made most of their money off of merchandising and movies, which were popular off the back of the huge hit that the original game was.
The free to play follow ups were never nearly as popular so the merch and movie empire has pretty much collapsed and now they’re just doubling down on the free to play stuff because it’s all they have left.

New Vegas is definitely the better story but Fallout 4 has better gameplay.

I never owned a gun. But one day a manager brought his p90 to show me, after hours just him and I in a warehouse, and I felt so cool holding it. There's just something about the design that had me awestruck.

I agree. When I go for additional content, I do it after I finished the story or if that's not possible during relaxed parts of the story without any urgency. Need to catch the bad guy because he did something bad and he's on the run? Do it right now! Meet in the next City to talk? That stuff can wait for a bit. For me personally story goes almost always first.

I think in general FNV’s story is better, but that’s not to say that Fallout 4 didn’t have some great story moments as well.

That’s a great perspective. Feel like games have an overwhelming amount of content these days, it’s sometimes hard to prioritize your path forward.

Its a pretty solid game, nothing ground-breaking and the main character is an insufferable prick, but the gameplay itself is solid and the environment is gorgeous.

It’s the same for all Digital purchases. Can be yanked off the shore. Be it App Store or steam.

If you love the Bethesda style of storytelling then you may prefer FO4, but if you want something a little different than that you will be happy with FNV.
No reason not to get both, especially since FNV goes on sale very cheap often.
