Nothing came to mind in terms of a game, but you said series as well, so I’ll throw something out.
It might not be what you’re after, but if you’re okay with the medium, there’s a show that’s set around young musicians. The MC has lost his mom (who kinda messed him up), and he’s in a total rut. He meets someone and they become friends and become performance partners for some events.
A lot of the show is about coming back to enjoy things that were (proverbially) lost after the death of his mom. I won’t spoil the ending in case you watch it, but the show is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions the whole time. You might leave with a lot of mixed emotions, but overall, healing, moving on, and internalizing lessons from people we meet are important themes in the show.
So if you’re looking to wallow in emotion for a little bit and get it all out, and if you’re okay with an animated show, then I’d check out Your Lie In April. It’s 22 episodes in total, so not a big commitment.
Might not be what you’re after, but you’ve gotten other recommendations too if you aren’t interested. Either way, whatever you’re going through, I wish you the best.
Peace and love

I liked MMOs when I went thru that cause you can find people to quest and chat with and it has a very slow pace and you dont really have to pay attention. Elder scrolls online is a good one.

I'd recommend taking a minute to consider why prolonging your sadness might not be the best option because you obviously won't be paying attention or enjoying the game you're playing.

Especially for the Stardew vibe, Graveyard Keeper is really fun and has a great story.

I feel like it has always been that way. The popularity of Mario lead to the rise of side scroller games. The popularity of Doom lead to the rise of first person games. The popularity of Dota lead to the rise of MOBA games. Same way the populatiy of Dark Souls lead to the rise of Souls likegames. This is just the market forces doing its own thing which is inevitable. Hype do actually die down ,but as long as people keep buying those games then video game companies will continue producing them until it loses it relevancy.

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. Celeste seems like a good story to suit your mood.

Clannad. If you play thru the first main part and finish all the stories, you’ll move in to Clannad Afterstory. You’ll be ugly crying while trying to power thru that.
Senua’s Sacrifice is a good one for just a full on melancholic feel.

Yeah I tried replaying it a few months back and the controls just didn't do it for me any more. Same with the other DS Zelda game, Spirit Tracks, though the whole train thing was kind of weird too.

To be fair, the game is aggressively horny. Locks look like vaginas, the store you interact with to buy/upgrade gear constantly talks about wanting to fuck you and then there's the ballerina robots (who have nipples, for some reason).
Been quite a while since I played a game quite this horny.

Disco Elysium. I don't want to spoil the game but it hits really hard, especially for someone with experiences like you.
This War of Mine if you want to cry but not be reminded of your own issues.
