It's not what we wanted but it gives me that nostalgic feeling. So I'm happy with that.

I can’t believe more people don’t like digital, and I can sell my games when I’m done and get some money back, digital game money just goes out the window

This is why you are being downvoted.

That’s what I was planning for the normal bg. Like birds chirping and things like that. But I feel like the action scenes need spice. Are there any games that don’t use much music in action scenes?

Been exclusive digital for the last 10+ yeas...
My current gaming laptop doesn't even have a DVD drive.. And non of my 2 other laptops have DVD either..
I also find it way more convenient that I don't have to go through 1000+ physical DVD/cd/blu ray to find what I'm looking for.

Too bad it was pretty mind numbing to play gameplay wise. Big departure from the first games where they were movement puzzles. This one felt like a mobile runner game.

I loved the abandoned town area in Part II that was like a mini open world game in itself. Just Ellie, Dina and the horse, free to explore the buildings and caves as much as you wanted before continuing.

I could write for way too long about this, but it has been and will probably always be Alan Wake.

The Xenomorph will run if you use the flame thrower etc but it will come back. The key thing is that it can't be killed

How strict is the definition of music? If, say, the boss enemy has a rhythmic stomping pattern, it will fill in the silence, but is it music? If you had to time your attacks, like a slash, that had a slashing sound effect that fit to the stomping rhythm, is it music?
What I'm trying to say, is you can use environmental sounds to fill in the silence, but I'm not sure at what point do you consider sounds to be effects and what point do they collaborate into "music".

This is a really nice list portraying the popular titles of the those years. Since the popular titles were typically the ones to "break the mold" in some way, it's a good way of also showing neat milestones in gaming.
I saw you mentioned in a few comments that your knowledge only goes so far. If you haven't looked into them, I've put a few things in a list below since you seem interested in this kind of stuff. I'm happy to give you a tldr or more dates to look up if you want but since you seem interested in the research and details, you might enjoy these reads.

I disagree. Gatekeeping is like using fandom as an excuse for entitlement of something you probably don't even have authority or ownership of.
