I use my Quest 2 all the time, but mostly for PC-VR, which the Quest 1 is just as capable for.

Last of its kind. I know a few hold outs that won’t upgrade from their iPhone 8+ because they’re just so comfortable with the size and home button config.

Exactly, most good games still require PCVR though. Like Half Life Alex, Boneworks, and imported games like Skyrim VR, Half life 2, No-Mans Sky VR, etc....

That's bad luck. They aren't the most durable, but they shouldn't be dying like that. For reference, it's the same hardware as the PS4, Xbox and switch pro controllers (default controllers, not stuff like the Xbox elite controller)

The standard ps4, ps5, xbox and switch pro controllers all use the same stickbox and have similar drifting rates/issues.

Is this the part where we go "lul told you so", then join in on shitting on meta relentlessly until they are gone from the vr market?

Honestly… I don’t really disagree with that statement for some reasons! But they are mostly Facebook and Instagram related, not Oculus.

I'm hoping my OG Quest can survive until the Quest 3 is announced. One controller already has a cracked ring being held together with superglue, but I don't want to buy an OQ2 only to have Meta abandon it twelve months from now.
Edit: I'm curious about the down votes, considering Meta's precedent on the subject.

They are discontinuing support in 2024, not today. So 4 years in this case for a first gen product that sold less than 1/20th of the current one (and counting).
I’m not trying to argue their policy is better than Apple’s (a company that sells a few hundred million of each model). My original post said it was more than most Android devices (given it’s basically an Android device) and almost as much as Apple. Seems 100% correct, huh?

Ok now do the quest 1 the same way. Quest 2 came out in 2020, let's use that release date as the most generous date. 2.5 years?

Big surprise. This is what happens when you pair a niche product with 2-year-old specs and a premium $1,500 price tag. Thinking that this product was going to be anything more than a failure should be a fireable offense.

If he had the Duo 1 and 2, that means he "invested" over $3000 on bleeding edge tech that's already obsolete.

I resisted the very notion of ever going to Apple for years...I finally got sick of Google spying on me (I would get targeted ads on chrome based on what my phone heard me say!), so I finally pulled the trigger and got an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Haven't regretted it at all. There was some adjustments to be made (like NOT having to close background apps all the time), but overall the experience on iPhone IS better than Android. It's far from perfect, but MILES better than even the best Android handsets out there, and I was using Android since Gingerbread and a hardcore supporter of the platform!
