The ONLY successful hardware MS has EVER produced has been their mice and keyboards. Everything else has been a dumpster fire. UltimateTV (Tivo Competitor), Kin, Windows Phone, Zune...EVERY last time they get into hardware, they fail. And yes, I am including Xbox here. (RRoD anyone?)

Of course, their software isn't so great these days either...companies like MS continue because of inertia, NOT because they are making the best stuff out there....and because when anyone comes close to making a product that is actually competitive, they just crush them into oblivion, or buy them out.

The iPhone 6S was discontinued in 2018 and Apple just stopped new OS support for it this year (it can’t get iOS 16). That’s the most recently discontinued model under their new policy and…. is 5 years.

Their other devices tend to be supported longer since there really isn’t much reason for them to stop OS updates for a laptop or streaming box, etc. But we were taking quickly evolving mobile devices here.

Anyway - they entire modern VR industry is less than 8 years old. IMO until it’s more mature 5 years isn’t bad.

I bought Quest 2 last week. I have never regretted such a pricy buy ever in my life more than this on. Lack of games, lack of variety, even there horizon is just sooooo bad. It's just kids gaggling around. Very little creativity on top of it. I would sacrifice my one time travel use to revoke this purchase.

Skyrim just like any other PC game you definitely need to mod for it to feel like an actual VR experience. If you play half life Alex, it will ruin all other VR experiences for you. There is a game called the grim Lord that is coming out and it will be a souls like experience. And there is a game called contractors on quest, two standalone and PC that will allow you to play halo call of duty and many other Mabs from the late 90s and early 2000s. And another shooter is called Pavlov. This will let you play call of duty zombies and some other game modes as well. Also, it has all of the maps from 007 goldeneye which is pretty cool. All these maps are modded and re-created by the community.

I have one too. It's still pretty good using Airlink (or a usb cable) to tether it to a PC for VR, but there isn't that much good VR content.

The Quest 2 is pretty long in the tooth at this point too, so they're not really leaving Quest 1 owners with a good upgrade path.
