Try AirPods. They work flawlessly with Macs. If you don’t like AirPods, the newer Beats work great too!

Same I’ve got mine since launch and no problems. I can game for 3-4 hours fine. I don’t think most people game for longer than that in a single session since people need breaks

Thanks a bunch stranger. I went ahead and ordered one just now, going to see how it works out. My Joycons don't have any drift yet as they're relatively new.
I almost never use my Switch docked (except for Mario Cart with my kids) and it basically lives in my duty bag. The next best thing I've found so far is a plastic piece that clips onto the Pro Controller and holds the screen above it.

Don’t know if you’ve tried a Satisfye grip, the switch just slides in and makes for a much more comfortable portable grip and doesn’t need you do have any other controllers than regular joycons

While both bluetooth and Wifi are technically standards the truth of the matter is that each generation is made up of innovations coming from across the industry, things aren't really well documented at all, and there's nothing approaching a standard reference design that companies can use to base their products on.
