Waist battery would be hell for adoption, but offloaded processing and power will def make it more comfortable to wear for those that want to use it.

Except that one of those things has already failed repeatedly because nobody wants to use the devices (except a minority for porn & gaming).
It wasn’t customers who said PCs & smartphones & the internet would fail - it was the entrenched business interests that didn’t get it. That’s not the case here.
Customers have been saying “nah” to this concept since Lawnmower Man; since the Oculus roller coaster demo made them throw up; since Google Glass failed spectacularly; since Meta’s nonsense flushed billions down the toilet.
They aren’t “visionaries” - they’re dilettantes with huge egos and way too much money to burn.
Everyone told these same “visionaries” that “smart speakers” were stupid & creepy too, and what happened? After billions wasted on marketing hype all the research recently concluded that yup, the market was right & nobody wants them either! They’re useless baubles.
AR has some potential w/HUDs & interaction with the real world … VR Meta Ready Player One BS like what’s shown in this mockup will never happen until climate change or war renders life on earth’s surface impossible.

I’m not a fanboy or a detractor. I like that VR is available; it can be fun and useful. If Apple makes something worthwhile, I’ll be interested to see it.

The idea that Apple wants to do away with all physical jacks is all speculation. There's been zero indication from them that they really want to do so.
While the press release doesn't include much on the spec, I'd assume that if they're integrating MagSafe tech into this, Apple is allowing them to utilize their standards without fee. If there was a licensing fee, other companies aren't going to utilize Qi2.

Love the many articles you can still find that regarded the web as a fad, lol. Same thing. People will fight change, its in their nature.

You should ask that same question to every MacBook owner. I don’t think there’s a single model with a matte screen within the last decade.
I have a 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021) and glossy looks better to me in most situations. I also have a 27-inch Dell monitor with a matte screen and it looks different. It’s more practical, especially in an office setting with lots of light sources. Anyway, my point is that glossy isn’t always worse.

Apple wants to use magsafe as a means to get rid of the USB-C Port (on iphone 15 and above) so this makes sense that they'd just drop the magsafe part into the next standard. (It'll help keep the regulations that they've faced with lightning cables down to a minimum this way)
Lets other companies build up on magsafe attachments, apple then gets to license out magsafe compliance for iphones or someshit like they do with lightning cables.
It'll also let more consumers build up magsafe charging docks and make those more widespread which will enable apples transition to portless even easier.
But anyway fucking hype: magsafe has been one of the best things for mounting phones onto stuff in such a long time.

I only want glossy when ever possible. The colors looks much clearer imo and well worth it. I never sit in direct sunlight

These same arguments could be made for computers and phones.
If your attitude prevailed for PCs/phones, then r/gadgets wouldn't exist, nor would the Internet or 99% of the modern world.
Visionaries move on regardless and create things that people don't know they want. Yes, people didn't know they wanted a computer or phone - most people can only think of faster horses, not what comes after the horse.

That sounds pretty great, but the headline i want to read its something like "new OLED models will not suffer from burn-in". Or at least "will last longer before burn-in".

Worth it. If their business model requires data mining, they deserve to fail.

Does the latest Apple TV have hdmi 2.1a support, or can this be added on via software? I’m overdue an upgrade for my telly and really interested in that fast frame rate switching feature

Interesting that it's build on Apple's MagSafe.
>WPC member, Apple®, provided the basis for the new Qi2 standard building on its MagSafe® technology. Apple® and other WPC members developed the new Magnetic Power Profile, which is at the core of Qi2. Qi2’s Magnetic Power Profile will ensure that phones or other rechargeable battery-powered mobile products are perfectly aligned with charging devices, thus providing improved energy efficiency and faster charging.

The warranty on the high-end OLED models is much better, covering all panel faults for 5 years (G2 and Z).

What's the market overlap between people who want a 4k webcam and people who are going to be happy with a monitor integrated one?
It just seems to be that most of the market would prefer a separate one for positioning, specifications, outputs, maybe internal storage, etc.
