Criminal Code of Canada - section 456 - Defacing current coins. 456 Every one who (a) defaces a current coin, or (b) utters a current coin that has been defaced, is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction
Further edit for folks in the US
18 USC 333 18 USC 475 Are equivalent laws prohibiting the defacing of coins and paper money. (However it is legal to write on paper money)

It's actually really bad for the environment which is part of the reason why picking up your dogs poo is important. Dog feces encourages algae growth that throws the ecosystem off balance and can have many unintended consequences.

Not saying this is a serious issue and a single turd in the water probably isn't going to do a whole lot but this should absolutely be avoided.
