So it's a curry you made. Looks nice, I'd have left out the vindaloo part.

That's really really good looking. Exceptional job with the consistency of the slices. Looks like a monarch caterpillar with a couple extra colors. 10/10.

Yeah they do look similar, especially since there are so many variations with both recipes.

This post is like someone making campbells chicken noodle soup and making a post picturing it saying "progresso tomato soup"... Looks more like stir-fry to me.

Oh I've tried them before. Like the oil fried pastry taste, but it's waaaaaay too sweet for me to eat more than a bite.

It’s a fatter braided fried pastry. Jalebi is made from a liquid mix squirted in hot oil while a koeksister has a more normal bread dough and fried like a donut from what I remember. When fried and soaked in syrup it can have a crispy outer texture and soaked with syrup throughout (the good ones I have eaten had this). It’s different in texture but similar qualities in flavour, it’s that or the memory of the sugar rush is clouding my judgement.
It wouldn’t surprise me if this was an offshoot inspired by Jalebi given South Africa’s multicultural heritage.

I’m one of the rare ones who’s hate jalebi and gulab jamon. Kesar pista is amazing tho.

A friend ordered a chocolate cake to thank their cat-sitter, but they thought it would be funny if the cake could look like their cat.
This is my first attempt to make a cake look like an animal so I think it turned out pretty good and avoided using fondant!

Is the koeksister longer or at least girthier?

If you ever get a chance try mawa/khoya jalebi. I’ve only seen it when I visited India (near jama masjid Delhi). Tastes insanely sinful!

I think there would be a lot of added benefit from just making this a sandwich.
