Reply to [OC] Fatal Police Shootings in the US: Racial disparities. In absence of racial differences, the probability of fatal police encounters would be the same across racial groups. It is not. Black/African Americans are 4.5 times more likely to have a fatal encounter with the police than Asian Americans. by HitchHux
Need to also compare it to the crimes committed by each race, as you are more likely to get shot if you are committing a crime.

Didn’t know native Americans were up there with black people. Why is this?

Eskimo would be Native American, just any of the people not mentioned before I suppose

Reply to [OC] US Fatal Police Shootings: number of days in a year without killings. In 2022, there were only 15 days without fatal shootings where the police was involved. Numbers pre-pandemic seems better that afterwards. by HitchHux
And what does that information tell us?
I genuinely have no idea what to do with it, it says nothing about the total numbers and it's too aggregated to see patterns.

Just imagine if non violet people were shot at 4.5 times the violent people, the police would be disbanded years ago

Now do men vs women. Are cops sexist? Or are men more likely to be in situations where they can get shot?

That makes sense, because African Americans commit more crimes than Asian Americans, according to FBI statistics.

The numbers are bad in comparison but those are still terrible numbers to begin with

Making more money doesnt really mean you'll have more deductions. There arent too many deductions someone who isnt close to retirement would likely be taking. If you have student loans, alimony, and a mortgage, or also some kids, then it could add up, but you dont have to be making a lot of money for most of those to be true. Even with some mortgages with the low interest rates until recently, the standard deduction may be more in some cases.

It's obvious what's going on; Racism.
Just imagine if it was rich people being shot at 4.5 times the rest of the population! The police would have been disbanded years ago.

It ruins his narrative to adjust for "per violent crime committed"

Yes that is how trains work (they bring stuff from place to place, aka where the people live)

In the US, as soon as you start slapping 'farm-to-table' and 'locally crafted' labels on everything you start paying a price premium.

In BC it's called BC Hydro, that's why I call it my hydro bill. I'd probably call my natural gas bill my Fortis (Fortis BC) bill but I don't have NG.

Does it count if the person had a toy, or a phone, and the police claim the victim was armed?
