The standard deduction is what the government expects someone making the median income to have as legitimate non-taxable expenses. If you're making >$300k, your legitimate deductions are likely multiple times that amount. Talk to a tax lawyer (not an accountant). It hurts to see someone just voluntarily forking over their rightful income to the government. If you're doing it out of benevolence, there are likely charities that directed contributions to can provide far more efficient use of the funds.

I would hope that you have a commercial operation included in your system sizing bc 27 kW is like 4 households worth of juice.

Look for paybacks in the 5 to 10 year range. More than that and your installer is selling you more than you need! You sill not compete with your utility =)

And for Pete's sake: 1) conservation (it's free!) 2) efficiency (as much as 10:1 payback for demand reductions and energy use optimization) 3) go ahead and get a pv array.

So let’s add another data set to Canada’s data to give a better understanding of the percentage of population by Province/Territory whose majority electrical power generation is from green sources as our province and territory borders are quite large but many of them have low population as the majority of Canada’s population is in a concentrated area in Southern Ontario and Southern Quebec.

Canada total = 39,292,355 (100%)
Newfoundland and Labrador = 528,818 (1.35%)
Prince Edward Island = 172,707 (0.44%)
Nova Scotia = 1,030,953 (2.62%)
New Brunswick = 820,786 (2.09%)
Quebec = 8,751,352 (22.27%)
Ontario = 15,262,660 (38.84%)
Manitoba = 1,420,228 (3.61%)
Saskatchewan = 1,205,119 (3.07%)
Alberta = 4,601,314 (11.71%)
British Columbia = 5,368,266 (13.66%)
Yukon = 43,964 (0.11%)
Northwest Territories = 45,602 (0.12%)
Nunavut = 40,586 (0.10%)

So armed with this data we can see that only 5 Provinces/Territories majority of sources of electricity are not green and when we look at percentage of population those 5 account for only 17.63% of the entire Canadian population meaning 82.37% of Canadians majority source for electrical power generation come from green sources.

And this is backed by Stats Canada who reports Canada's electrical power generation by source and the last month published (Nov. 2022) saw only 18.61% of all electrical power generated came from combustible fuels, and that includes the "Other types of electricity generation" as I can't say for certain that the energy produced was green, so it is possible it is lower than 18.61%

The sad thing is that a lot of other industries are making money hand over fist and simply don't pay. I work for a corporate entity that (comically) isn't bad in regards to executive comp vs employee comp, and our CEO still makes 134 times the median salary. I think the US national average in that stat was that CEOs make 399 times the salary of the median employee. That's fucked up.
