For 99.9% of human history, that graph would have been more important.

Reply to comment by anusty in [OC] I asked Georgians (U.S.) if they learned in school about the 1912 racial cleansing in Forsyth County (GA), only 11% of respondents were taught this. by JPAnalyst
You asked “who” makes the decisions. I gave you an answer to THAT question. You didn’t ask who SHOULD. You’re arguing with air.
We agree. This is big government telling people in Georgia they aren’t going to learn about racial cleansing in their state. Obviously I disagree with that the DOE should be doing this.
These entire last few days, you keep arguing about nothing. You have something to say, say it. But phrasing it on the form of a question, then getting direct black and white answers and arguing with a straw man makes you seem incredibly disingenuous.
Get it off your chest, whatever it is.

Replace “iPhone” with “iMac” in this comment and it reads like a prognosis from 15 years ago.
Of course, Apple isn’t going to just remain stagnant and allow new technologies to make their primary business obsolete. They’ll do exactly what they’ve been doing for the last few decades and gladly allow new technologies to cannibalize their own products, just as they did with the iPhone replacing the iPod and the iPad replacing the iMac in the vast majority of use cases.

Strange the 2008/09 GFC didn’t create much of a spike.

Market is expected to move from smartphones to smart-glasses in about 10 years, or from iPhone to iGlass (or whatever they decide to call it) to be specific.

What is up with your date ordering on the x axis and why don't you have a value for every year and quarter? Beautiful data is ... complete data.

Sorry to jump in here early in the thread, but I currently pay 35% income tax. It's not normal. Someone asked to borrow 10k and I told them it would cost me 6k to do that. So I'd have to pull 16, 000 dollars out of an account to get 10,000 dollars. In the next few years we'll be able to lessen that, but basically I pay a lot. And I should. Lots of people with more money than me, and there are lots, pay 20% in taxes. Lots of people pay zero. If you have like 5 or 15 million, you're going to have to do some work before you stop paying exorbitant taxes. Above that, you're going to pay very little. Fuck you.

This article intentionally leaves out transfer payments. It is actually correct that the wealthy pay almost all of the taxes, even when you factor in payroll tax and sales tax which are regressive, when you also factor in transfer and in-kind payments (services provided for free are no different than a negative tax).
