That’s how Walmart annihilated mom and pop shops. Low margin times massive scale still equals massive profits, but no small shop can possibly operate on such low margins.

The real tragedy is when a Walmart kills all the small stores, but then the location closes for not being profitable enough

Keep in mind that a substantial number of people couldn't even tell you what century World War II was fought in, or what countries were on which sides in that war.

I find it to be unlikely that adults decades later would have any idea if they were taught in school about a 1912 Forsyth County incident. Self reports are not the way to know what is or was taught in school.

Cool, I haven't heard of that before!

Edit: Actually I just ran through calculating this stat. The comparison with points is pretty much the same as the above, as you might expect. Comparing this stat to the goal differential though; every team is on a tight line with the exception of the ducks, who are underperforming (relative to this statistic). I don’t know where you’re getting 6% from but I have never seen a retailer in this market pull 6%. I manage a medium sized chain and we run about 2%. Target pulls about 3%. Kroger pulls about 1.5. Walmart is usually around 2%. I’m very familiar with P/L’s in this industry and this all seems right.

Today 14 year olds on Reddit learn that retail has paper thin margins and that taxes are paid on earnings not revenue.

I swear we need an intro to economics, finance, and accounting class mandatory in high school in the country. The financial illiteracy on Reddit is absolutely astounding given how many hot takes are about these things.

That’s not who, those are large bureaucratic entities with, but for elected officials, no accountability. So how is it determined what “big events” should be taught and which “big events” there’s just not time for?
