I went to school in Arkansas about 20 years ago. We had one single choice for foreign language, and that was Spanish. Our Spanish teacher was terrible, didn’t teach us a lick of Spanish, threatened to kill the class, and even one time refused to leave during a fire drill. She threw books at students one time.
Good times.

I f memory serves, in New Mexico, 2 years of foreign language were required to graduate high school in the late aughts. You could however, substitute band, orchestra, or a few other electives for it. I would imagine this is why the percentage is so low in New Mexico.

Who determines what the “big events” were that are worthy of conveying through formal government provided and controlled instruction?

So are you just talking about the job market in general, or are you continuing the topic of this post, which was engineering internships? 🤔

I didn't want to spend money on that, so I just used Selenium to simulate what a real user may do.
This whole code is just a big bodge. I just control the web browser with the script, and instruct it to type into the search input coordinates, and scrap the page to retrieve the times.
If you'd like a better way to do this with an API, reach to me in DMs, I'd be happy to help

Both the people I mentioned were in their late 20s at the time.
For the one that didn't consider herself fluent in either language, I would have never guessed. In talking with her, (we knew each other a couple years before this conversation) I thought she was fluent in English. She certainly didn't seem to struggle with speaking or understanding to me. But she felt that she struggled with both languages.

Unfortunately, I think my code won't help you that much. As I dont have access to any maps API, I basically just used Selenium to simulate inputs as a real user would do. This is time consuming because the whole page has to render, for nothing.
If you don't mind spending a few bucks on a Google Developer account, you may have an easier time achieving your goal using their API.
I'd be happy to help if you need.

If you count Metro area of Paris, right? The administrative region of Paris is exactly this size.

Mind sharing your code? I’ve been using a paid service to do this at my job and would rather do it for free haha.
I assume you need Maps API access?

$611 billion of revenue to $11 billion of profit. Why investors love tech so much and hate mature industries like retail

I hope to do something similar and look at changes during rush hours and arbitrary destinations. To better understand the variance in commute time throughout the day.

Actually, on average, no! You could imagine losing by 5 goals for 4 games (-20 differential) and then winning by 1 goal for 6 games (+6 differential). On average you are -14 diff, but a winning record.
As a counter example, consider the Raiders (NFL) last preseason game and first 6 regular season games from this past season. Their scoring differential was +20, but their record was 3-4. I'm sure there are more extreme real life examples when you can have a highly positive (or negative) scoring differential, along with a counterintuitive record.
FWIW, the Canes and the Kings are actually overperforming (they are winning more games than you would expect, given their scoring differential), so far this season.
