I think its because mental health in America is pretty terrible. If you notice on that web page that photo is from we have the highest suicide rate than any other country on that list (out of 70+ countries). Also highest reported crime rates and least solved crime rates as well from other studies

The "trend line" with the attached conclusion is what makes it egregious and masks the logarithmic nature of the y axis. Like it misses the important points with overfitting.
And the interesting thing is two things
- in one year, prices fell by 99%
- in subsequent years, prices have fallen another 60%
But it makes it look like there is a continuity that in reality doesnt fit a trend line at all as is seen in the non-logaritmic version

The heck is with the scaling on the y axis? Fix that wackness. Looks out of proportion and obviously adjusted to fit a narrative.
It's not even consistent. Big, then small physical spaces, then jumping my random amounts as well.

I have a theory that modern games are doing this.

He put a lot of unqualified, down right terrible people in power all over the country, including the supreme court. That's his legacy, and this country is already worse for it.

I have been a fan of Rich Burlew's webcomic Order of the Stick (OOTS) for many years. I have noticed over the past few years that I am waiting longer, on the average, between installments.
Knowing that Burlew has health problems, I decided to make this graph, which shows the counts of all installments having the same copyright year. I correlated bars on the graph with public announcements Burlew has made about his health.
The comic started out as a series of gags involving meta-humor about the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game, but has evolved into an epic story with a rather intricate plot and diverse cast of characters. It is clearly approaching a climactic conclusion but still has a way to go.
I cannot say that the recent decline in productivity is a direct result of declining health, because Burlew's notifications over the past few years indicate that he has branched out into several other projects, mostly dealing with OOTS merchandise, so it may be that his health has deteriorated to a stable level and he now devotes less attention to the webcomic due to other activities going on.

It does not show that countries with more gun access have more mass violence

I didn't know the name , thanks ! Clearly the case here for country in civil war versus country at peace ...

Weird way to display data. Why not just do a scatterplot with a trendline? Also a lot of countries missing.

The graph is certainly correct, but the source data is à ridiculous aggregate, notably because the definition of intentional homicide widely varies from country to country.. see my other message for more details

See, I do agree with you.
But someone told me cheese gives you vivid dreams, and I have begun to notice it myself (granted, anecdotal. Also probably just confirmation bias).

Completely misleading. I take yemen as an exemple :it s civil war there, homicide rate eeported here correspond to 1000 death per year while actually it's at least 10x more.... The list in this data is mixed country in civil war or at peace, gun owned by armies or citizen or criminal gangs, homicide count with completely different statistics country to country...
-> bad source , bad message, not beautiful data

Problem with states strict gun laws have bordering states with lax laws. A federal needs to be implemented at some rate. Hard to argue against in my opinion.

It's everyone's responsibility in the transaction, since they all obviously know what's going on. Nobody can ethically be involved in a dangerous or harmful activity they know about.
Similarly to how hiring a hitman is illegal... not just being a hitman. Both.

>Dozens of countries have done it
Sure, but the people in the US aren't going to let it happen, so it's neither simple nor cheap.

the further advancements are irreverent. of the 4 dat a points one goes backwards, and the cost only decreased by 50% compared to the drastic cost the year before.
