A co-worker's spouse is an MBTA policeman. I know he often signs up to work the Gillette train on Patriots game days or during certain concerts. They ride the train and then "police" a certain section of the stadium.

At this point if you’re wearing a mask to contain or prevent Covid. Respirator masks (IE N/KN95s) are the only way to go. Cloth isn’t doing much.

If you just like wearing cloth masks then carry on and look on Etsy

Back in the early 2000s when Fios first came out, the cost to install fiber optic was about 4-5k per house. They went down the neighborhoods in Braintree installing fiber optic to every house. By you whining about your lawn being dug up, you're adding extra cost by having the crew come back at a later date when the crew will already be working on your street

Well as you are probably already aware there are hundreds of resources for veterans to get into cyber security, like cisa: https://niccs.cisa.gov/education-training/cybersecurity-veterans

But on a local level, I can't talk to Cambridge College, but I'll offer a small bit of work advice (for when the time comes). Look at Raytheon. They are oftentimes taking cyber interns of all levels and the veteran status helps at a company like that.

As a long time Draftkings user (for fantasy sports), I think their promotions are good enough to keep me. I'm not really the type to spend time hunting down promos...but they push enough free or discounted lines - many Boston specific - my way to keep me going. I've used it while visiting family in legal states and the UI is good enough.

On the other hand, I am interested in seeing if WynnBet provides any advantage seeing as how I can easily use their in-person services being right down the street from Encore. I've had a decent experience actually going into Encore and cashing at the windows and wagering at the kiosks (I did try placing wagers at the window only once...may be down to the employee I was dealing with, but it was a nightmare).

It'll be one of those two but I'll honestly try and keep it in-person and off app. My wife likes it because I can walk there (getting exercise!) and the temptation to chase losses down from my couch doesn't exist when I'm only dipping into my envelope of "fun cash".

I also admit that I enjoy gambling as entertainment (I know it's all going to be lost money over time) and even if I don't play them - and I never have - just walking past the tables and machines gives me a dopamine hit that I can't get via app. I don't care that my $10-30 tickets clearly label me as small-time when I go to the cashier's window, I definitely prefer to keep it in person as much as possible.

...of course the advantage to mobile wagering is that, with DraftKings at least, my minimum wager is literally ten cents as opposed to the ten dollars on site.

I think being unable to see other people’s faces is another social fragmentation. If you go back a few decades, complete strangers on public transit would gladly converse with one another during their commutes. I don’t think that’s something we should be glad about losing. But that’s just me. Phones and masks seem like the main culprits.

And yeah if I’m going to be surrounded by a bunch of randoms in a confined space… being able to see their faces gives me a better sense of physical security. You can usually read a person before they do something stupid or dangerous

Don't forget to try a resident (doctor in training) clinic associated with BIDMC / BU / Etc. Often residents will have quick bookings and all appointments are precepted by an attending, so if there is a worry you have an attending doctor involved.

(IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT THE MORE PEOPLE YOU HAVE INVOLVED IN YOUR CARE THE BETTER THE CARE IS!) SO DON'T THINK YOU'RE GETTING BAD CARE FROM SOME MED STUDENTS!!

I called BIDMC and they told me their attendings were booking out 1.5 years (!!!) for new pts, but in the resident clinic, I got an appointment in 2 weeks! Now you might have turnover as residents graduate (Int Med and FamMed are 3-year residencies) but my PCP was hired as an attending!

You can still tell when someone is smiling if they have a mask on. You can also nod at someone, or wave. The pandemic, the reason people still wear masks, has absolutely had devastating consequences for humanity and how we perceive each other. This is such small beans in the grand scheme of things. I find other ways to connect with my community, besides being able to see the lower half of their faces.

Once upon a time strangers used to smile at one another, or at least some form of acknowledgement that made you feel a shared sense of humanity if nothing else. We live in a city after all. If I can’t see your face, my brain is going to imagine one. And the only masked face I can ever imagine is that of a fearful person. The only shallow thinker here is you, if you cannot even conceive of the possibility that making such a drastic change to human appearance has subtle consequences.

Marathon Sports does a weekly run group that is awesome for people who are mostly looking to have a good, casual time. They have a few locations--I used to go to the one in Brookline in Washington Square.

I'll also second Pioneers Run Crew and also throw in Forest Hills Runners as a very welcoming group.

If you're looking for a casual 5k for runners and walkers of every ability, you can go to Jamaica Pond parkrun or Danehy Park parkrun, which happen on Saturday mornings at 9 AM almost every week of the year. Totally free, and they're timed.
