Pioneers Run Crew is awesome! Weekly runs on Wednesday nights and constant events. Fun and diverse crew. Our captains are phenomenal. Definitely a great place for beginners or runners at any level.

Yeah, it sucks. They shut down one location and are really struggling to keep primary care doctors on. I had a pulmonary embolism diagnosed in the CHA ED. The doctor there released me with a week’s prescription for medication and said that I needed to see my primary care doc immediately to get a treatment plan and the right medication. I called CHA (where I was already a patient) and the front desk receptionists were like “sorry, how about in a month?” When I explained the situation, they were like “what do you want us to do about it?” I had to raise a huge stink just so I could talk to a nurse so I wasn’t being triaged by a receptionist and then an even bigger stink so I could be seen within a week and get the prescription and referrals I needed. I was a big fan of CHA’s primary care before the pandemic, but they are struggling right now in a way that means I cannot recommend them.

When I was looking for new doctors, Mt Auburn Primary Care said they could get me in that week if I didn’t mind being seen by a younger doctor (maybe a resident?) and didn’t mind that the doctors would rotate. That might be an option for you if you’re not set on having one specific doctor?

You might have better luck doing online courses and comparing how much they charge per course and what the overall cost will be. I tried going to community college but they charged absurd prices for prerequisites and they never stopped arguing with me about meeting the qualifications even though I met the qualifications. You can get a certification with Amazon I think for security. Basically do your best to keep working at a skill and keep practicing. Use Github all the time. If you need to get a good calculator that can do complicated math if you need to.

I love the beaches this time of year. Pretty and deserted. Several ideas besides the north shore:

  • Castle island in South Boston. Sullys should be opening this week iirc.
  • Drive down to Cohasset and drive the roads closest to the ocean until you get to Plymouth.
  • Make a weekend trip to Provincetown. Off season so a lot of stuff is closed but it's still beautiful down there. On a good windy day you can get sandblasted, it's quite an experience
  • Head to Newport and do a mansion tour

Other ideas for weekends

  • all the various art museums. MFA, ICA, Isabella Stuart Gardner, MassArt museum, Harvard Art, Peabody Essex in Salem, Rose Art at Brandeis, or make the drive to Mass MoCa. Many museums have free days or free/discounted tickets via boston public library
  • speaking of which, visit the main branch of BPL
  • Boston Athenaeum
  • catch a show at symphony hall or Jordan hall at the New England Conservatory
  • tour of Fenway Park
  • day trip to Providence
  • candle pin bowling at Ron's
  • whaling museum in New Bedford

This has been my experience with them. I tried calling back in November and they said they were booked till Mar and weren’t taking in anymore appointments. They asked me to call every week to see if there was an opening or if they’d open up past Mar. I tried for a good 2 weeks then gave up. Pretty rough…

I understand wearing one if you feel sick, but I think everyone just looking like faceless ghouls is a cost that needs to be weighed. The face is an important part of human connection and I dislike not being able to see another person’s. It makes me less likely to want to interact with them. A fully masked society loses something
