don't listen to this guy. it's not a crime to smoke outside, it's a civil fine ("illegal"). you can't get arrested so it doesn't matter where you're from ("foreigner"). and unless you are transporting it to another state where it's illegal you'll be fine ("federal law").
you can just walk in and buy it. def smoke it outside, worst case you will get a ticket if you're being obnoxious about it, probably .01% chance that happens.

Just be cool about where you smoke. Don't do it around children. You'll smell it all over downtown. Or you can just use edibles or vapes.

Here's the thing. It is "legal" at the state level but still illegal federally. You need to be 21+.
It's also illegal to smoke it anywhere in public and if you're staying at a hotel, also illegal to smoke it there.
All that is my long winded way of saying, buy at your own risk and understand the consequences of a foreigner getting arrested for this are worse than an American.

FERS can be great if you have military service + TSP.
You can finish with 15-20 years of serviceand move onto something else. I will be in my early mid 40s. Go private 10 years. Then, go back to federal, likely jump to a grade 14/15. work at least 5 years, get the high 3 and forever health care. At the age of 62, you can live well. The pension has COLA. I don’t know anything about MA pension.
Lot of folks in the federal system are veterans. They also have military pension and VA disability. They pocket easily over 5k a month at the age of 37. If they are in federal system, they are working for their 2nd/ 3rd pension.

Reply to comment by PresidentBush2 in Dispatcher availability no longer all that’s holding back MBTA service by eigiarce
I don’t think the GM is necessarily the issue here. The interim guy has been there for 20 years and my recollection is he’s worked his way up to that position. He knows his stuff. I mean sure, they could maybe use some higher level direction but as the article states a lot of their constraints are hiring practices, financial incentives, and increasingly rolling stock.
The whole dispatcher thing for example is a really tough tightrope because right now the MBTA can only do internal hires and would need to renegotiate its agreements with several unions to go external, while FTA would have to make sure the system for taking on external hires still requires some familiarity with the system and ops.
This gets to a real issue. Would you want to work for the MBTA as a bus driver working weekends and early mornings for 5 years just to go full time? Who wants a 14 hour dispatcher shift? Also, lets not forget that working for the MBTA is a perfect career for people into public humiliation given how many “experts” think the solution is to gut the agency.

When I was assaulted on the green line the transit police were extremely helpful. They had a female cop drive me home to the suburbs so I wouldn't have to stay on the train. And they called me twice in the next 48 hours to see if I needed help accessing resources, navigating the system, etc.

I’m a high school special education teacher who teaches in a substantially separate life skills classroom for students with profound autism and multiple severe disabilities. I regularly interact with the post graduate teacher (who works with students ages 18-21) and she always tells me how much tougher it is now for students and families once they turn 22. Dayhab programs don’t have enough staff to fully operate. Waitlists are extremely long for dayhab and community residential/group homes. My interactions with DDS (Department of Developmental Services) in the past to support my students’ families have always been a mess. There is so much turnover there and I felt like I talked to a new family case manager and supervisor every 6 months. I highly suggest everyone read this article which highlights the struggles families face with young adults who have profound/severe autism.
I will DM you, but I highly suggest you continue to remain a vocal advocate for your children during their IEP meetings at their school. Make sure your children are working on functional academic, life skills, and vocational goals/objectives. Are your children verbal or do either of them use a communication device? Make sure they continue to gain exposure out in the community whether it be ordering food at a restaurant, purchasing groceries, or interacting with others.

You can exchange crypto for real money? That's like saying "imagine stealing diamonds, just a bunch of pressed coal".

You can suffer waiting for the line to be rebuilt, or you can suffer waiting for the line to be rebuilt. It's your choice.
