You need a lot more infrastructure for that to work. The trains have to stop at the exact right place so the doors line up and they have to sync with the platform doors when they open and close. We'd need some more modernization of the trains and signaling before that's possible

Had an ice sheet from a mini van come out and crash in front of me on i90.. the crashing sound of ice on road was terrifying... it wasn't busy... light traffic... but it was a surreal moment for me to experience that...

Thankfully no one was hurt...

But this is serious... folks need to take time and clear off the vehicles before driving...

This website includes the report the article talks about which is not a dashboard. Amazing reporting from the Globe as usual. It is on a dashboard for FTA Safety Management Inspection Response which top line says MBTA is 36% compliant and have until 2025.

sounds to me like they haven't hired anyone from outside yet, but instead just trained people from other roles in the org, and now the problem is:

>our vehicle availability and staffing of operators and front-line management

aka they shuffled people around within the mbta to say "look how well we're doing, we have so many dispatchers now," and in the process they moved so many conductors that they can't run enough trains to maintain their old operating schedule. "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas"
