i love thriveworks! it definitely give off like a big corporate group vibe at first but the resources are great. you get to meet with the same therapist/psychiatrist every time and it’s so easy to book appointments. once i established care with my therapist i hardly noticed the corporation anymore

I don't think that consultants are the only reason why transit is so expensive. The United States tends to have a lot more regulations and community feedback to contend with.

The California high speed rail project is a good case study for this. They had to deal with a tremendous amount of lawsuits from people who didn't want rail in their backyard, and would often use any kind of legal mechanism to stop rail from being built in their community.

I mean, think about how the Red Line in the 80's already had budget allocated to extend to Arlington. If I recall, a significant portion of that tunnel was actually built (and still exists) before the good citizens of Arlington put the kibosh on a station in Arlington.

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/learn-about-holding-a-security-deposit You can go here. It’s slightly vague about the “proper type of account” and “telling the bank it’s not the land lords money”but the actual law states it has to be in a security deposit account (which is what the bank would do if you told them it was a security deposit) Or you are subject to forfeiture of the deposit and treble damages. I do t know the statute but It’s been explained by a judge to me (twice unfortunately).

Yeah, I wasn't against Baker, just the crowd he decided to stand with. If he went/goes independent then way less issues casting a vote for him.

He could totally do that in this state, and I am sure he would have more backing in both votes and monetarily than the GOP here. It would also keep the democrats on their toes.

I agree, when there are at least two reasonable parties. That’s not the case right now. I’ll vote for sanity, decency, and human rights over the ideal of “balance” when there is no balance at all.

See: Overton window.

Right now, we have a few left-wing voices in a moderate party (Democrats), and a far-right party with a few center-right voices and a sold segment of total crazies (Republicans). No other party really shows up other than faintly for the office of President and doesn’t have a cohesive platform - and also, ballot access for 3rd parties is very limited.

So there is one party for reasonable policy. Primaries allow us to choose options within the party, and there are definitely options there. Consider Democratic primaries to be the “real” election, and then make turn out the in the general for the Democratic primary winner. For several elections.

Only then will the crazy in the Republican Party shrivel, and maybe segments of both current major parties spin off, if there’s structural support to make them viable, with ranked choice voting, ballot access changes, and other reforms. That scenario can happen if we get involved to make it happen - and sure as shit won’t if we don’t.

well, do what you gotta do.... I commuted from Maine to Boston for 6+ years, and all I can say is that it's like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer-- you can make it work, and there are ways to make it feel better, but it feels really awesome when you stop.

It's been 10 years now, and I still get a twitch when the prospect of a long commute comes up.

"Inferior" is a matter of opinion. I'm really curious about Caines, but not that curious that I'd go out of the way for them or Chick-Fil-A (the nearest one to me is in Framingham. About a 30 minute drive or more).

Maybe Caines is better... maybe it isn't. Either way I wouldn't let their politics get in my way... a chicken sandwich is a chicken sandwich.

Speaking of, a few more Popeyes would be welcome.
