Just for interest: it is totally worth a trip out to Fall River to go to Patti's Pierogies. Huge variety, their Kielbasa is great, solid galumpkies. Good beers on tap (Gansett!) and canned Polish beer. Polka in the background.

My understanding is the licensing and inspection process is an expensive bureaucratic & time-consuming pain in the ass. There are higher standards and larger hurdles than restaurants, so most folks rather open restaurants if possible.

Their croffles are absolutely amazing (blueberry cream cheese is my personal favorite), and the weekend latte is a really good take on dalgona coffee. I can’t really speak too much to the authenticity of the pancakes, but they fit the description of tall and super fluffy. I’d say if anything, they may be just a bit denser than some other recipes.

Cafe Polonia is pretty decent. Very heavy on the oil though (all of their dishes). Nothing like you’ll get in Chicago or other cities with larger Polish communities. Staropolska in Chicago is one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to.

I've never looked for pierogi on menus here, but now I want them.

Even better, I want a niche restaurant that's dumplings of the world. It seems like most cultures have something that's a filled carb, so put them all on the same menu and I will immediately buy bigger pants.

I buy the ones sold in plastic bags at the Baltic Market on Dot Ave. DJ's and Jeju pierogies are some other tasty options.

FYI. Pierogi is plural. The singular is pierog. In English though, pierogies is usually how the plural is spelled.

Cafe Polonia is my favorite. Moldova is excellent too (coltunasi, same thing). Cafe St. Petersburg sells pelmeni, which is the Russian variation.

There’s lots of places to buy frozen. Baltic Deli, Bazaar, etc.

Jaju is a local pierogi company that has occasional pop-up restaurants (has one in Bow Market), but mostly sells frozen ones in grocery stores. Not sure how well it does as a pop-up, but sure - a pierogi truck would entice me if it’s good. Just keep in mind that food trucks are notoriously challenging to operate in Massachusetts.

Check out Wild Fox in Woburn. They just opened as a crowdsourced (mainvest) pierogi restaurant.

I was a licensed boat captain for many years.

We had a small boat in our fleet that needed an outboard engine repair. I was sent to pick it up from the mechanic and bring it back. I went to the office, got the key, went to the boat, it wouldn't start. Tried for a few minutes, called the guy at the office.

He walked down the dock, got on the boat, inserted the kill switch clip that is standard on all outboards (and was attached to the keychain on the boat that I drove daily for a living) into the kill switch holder, turned the key and started the engine, and walked away. Never even said a word to me.

I have never felt so stupid in my entire life.

The image is cut off but does it have a City of Boston seal on it? All official communications from city hall will have the city seal on it.

If not this is likely a fake. Also the published 635 number would connect with a city department but it is not publicly listed making it an inside number, possibly as a way to horas someone.

Parking permits usually have assigned serial numbers and that should be also listed on this letter.

Call the main number of the Boston Transportation Department (it's at the city web site) or just call 311 to get connected. Describe the letter and offer the number published.

My initial take is this is a scam.
