Agreed. Had a hot water heater put in from a supply house, saw the same size/brand from home depot for less price. Asked my plumber about it and he said the supply house heater has a higher btu rating so replenishes the hot water much faster than the home depot one. Glad I went with the one from the supply house.

Sounds like you paid a premium for an emergency replacement, the plumber likely dropped everything to address your busted water heater. You are also not factoring in any stock besides the water heater. Youre probably talking an additional $300-$500 in piping, valves, a new PVC vent, possibly a new wall to hang it on.
HD buys the rinnai label and slaps it on junk. Never get crucial home infrastructure from HD.
Are you hiring an actual plumbing company who is sending out one of their plumbers, or hiring a small plumber directly?

You aren’t. Be grateful s/he showed up.

This. HD sells a lot of crap. If you are paying $2200$2500 to put it in (which is fair) make sure what you are putting in is going to last.

Home Depot quality is not supply house quality

That's what things cost now.

That’s a pretty average price

That sounds absolutely reasonable to me.

I think it’s going to become a “where we’re you when…” topic. I was working in a restaurant and it was slowly dying that last week we were open. Our Saturday night reservations dropped from 168 early in the week, to 14 by the time we opened that night. By then we’d already gotten word from the governor that we’d be closing, and our manager gathered us to tell us we weren’t going to bother opening the next/final day, so this was our last service for a bit. It was kinda Titanic-y, serving those 14 guests and pretending we weren’t sinking.

Haha so someone in city hall is actually sending out this terrible of a letter as official city business? That’s funnier than it being a scam!

I would assume it would be on a letterhead and the signature looks really weak too. Usually, they have their name and some other info under it.
I mean, the spacing with the 6 1 7 is strange too. Some spelling and grammar things too.
A lot of red flags

I got one of these exact letters a few years ago. The person I spoke to at the City Hall said it was because my insurance had been revoked (ed. note: It had not. I knew it had not. I confirmed it had not.). They reinstated my permit while we were on the phone because they couldn't find the "paper trail" from the audit they had done. All that to say, it's probably an administrative error and I hope it's sorted as easily for you!

yeah i noticed that — i googled the number (with a 1 instead of a sketchy I) and it is in fact a city hall number

good thought but they say “issuance” not “insurance”, still gonna double check

It also has the letter I in place of the 1 in 617... although 617-635 does appear to be the prefix for City Hall numbers.

Call the number listed on the parking permit site, not the letter. The phone number on this letter doesn’t match and doesn’t come up on a google search.

yeah I agree it is kinda janky but it is addressed correctly and has my license plate and info correct…

Was this addressed to you correctly? Many things about the letter and formatting make me think this is fake. First guess would be neighbors that just hope people blindly give up on parking in the neighborhood.

Wow that is so weird. Did you forget to renew your registration? Do you have unpaid parking tickets?

Plumber here…very fair and normal price. Also, Home Depot worker here. You can’t compare HD prices to supply house prices.
