I think the pro-move there is to sit at the bar on a cold winter night where they shuck the oysters, order a dozen oysters and a bowl of chowder, get a pint or three of whatever beer you like (I like the brick red Sam Adams), take in the history, and then leave. The history of the place is really cool, and the chowder and oysters are actually good, but otherwise it’s a waste of money and time.

I understand. However - and I say this as a non-gambler, who believes the Everett casino is a stupid moneysink and that gambling institutions are generally shitty and even morally bankrupt to a degree - I think the reason lots of people are downvoting your comments is because a relative minority of Greater Boston Area residents with safe money have a significant amount of sway over policing fun people are allowed to have. Bars are limited. Venues have to be big, safe, family focused or corporate run affairs. Nothing is allowed to run past ten unless the Sox are about to win something huge. Compared to sports betting, all of these could be construed as worse vices but all of them are also essential for the vibrant culture many residents want to have and participate in.

All of it is a product of NIMBYism, centered in wealthier areas like Newton, Brookline, etc but the worst vices imaginable are well and alive in this city, and are undiminished by this cultural clampdown on fun.

Compared to the bigger problems this city and its surrounding boroughs like to ignore - even going so far as to intentionally block the reconstruction of vital infrastructure, like the bridge to Long Island - sports betting is nothing.

Eh. I remember having to wait at the Andover station over an hour during a snow storm - one of the last times you want the train to be so delayed. I get on some level weather happens and it can/will cause delays but I really wouldn't call that reliable. Bonus because the Andover station last I was on it does not have any type of enclosed waiting area so it was not a pleasant experience not knowing when the train would come and not really being able to get out of the cold/weather at risk of missing when the upcoming train would come.

They have three proteins (curry chicken, chicken and onions, and some saucy tofu stuff) and three starches (fried rice, lo mein, and Singapore noodles). I normally go for chicken curry over Singapore noodles or chicken and onions over lo mein.

Their dumplings are bad, but the dough is like a quarter inch thick so they’re really filling. I’ve never had their soup, so I can’t speak to that.

Just keep in mind that all of the food is only fine. $4 for a small plate is a good deal, but not THAT good of a deal for what you get. It’s great to have around if you’re in the area and want a cheap meal, but I would never recommend that anyone make a point to go there.

One of the biggest weaknesses in our current subway is that to if you don't live centrally in downtown Boston, you have to go into downtown to take a line that then goes west/north/south. Our lines need more connections at the outer points of the map. If you go to Tokyo,JP, one of the great things about their subways is that the map is more like a spider web. Rather than just spokes that all lead into Tokyo, they have ways to connect so you can avoid going to the central hub just to go back out.

100% agree. I live in Haverhill and have taken the commuter rail a couple times in the last two weeks due to the weather. It was actually nice not to drive. I have no metric to compare the $11 one-way fair to, but as a trade off to gas, parking, and a link pass, it’s only a little more expensive without the variable of traffic. The issue is the times really mess up my work schedule as it either gets me in too early or too late. I also missed the 5:40pm train last Monday and had to wait for the next one at 6:40pm. Can’t see myself doing a 5:45am to 8:15pm work day regularly. My 3-4 hours daily commute is bad enough.

I have it. Works great, except that the mail is almost always later than informed delivery says it will be. That is, I’ll get photos of mail for “today,” but it doesn’t show up for several days.

My address is like: 123 Big Street, Apartment 3, where each apartment has a box in the lobby.
