I took a taxi from the airport last Sunday about 11am and I'd probably do that again if I were in your situation. Oddly there were no taxis at the taxi stand but they radioed for one and it showed up in about 3 minutes, which is better than what you can expect from Uber/Lyft even on a good day. Once on the road there was minor traffic in the tunnel but no real delays.

I don't recommend space heaters as that will kill your electric bill. Those are only typically worth it if you have a whole house/apartment but only need heat in one room as that's then a trade-off. If it's only at night that's your issue you can also get a sleeping bag that's what I used to do when I lived in an apartment that was from the early 1800s, covered the windows then used a sleeping bag + wool blanket + quilt just grab your morning clothes and get back in to warm em up and keep slippers nearby so your not walking around on cold floors

I mean if I’m at a bar and 2 sub 500 NBA teams from across the country are battling it out in a meaningless game I’d rather watch anything else, much more exciting to put a couple dollars on it with a buddy and sit there and get pumped up about some guy hitting a meaningless 3 with 4 minutes left down 25 because you’ve got 10 bucks on him having over 12 points or something lol

Different strokes for different folks, it’s obviously a predatory Industry but so are tons of others that we just accept as part of life

The uncomfortable reality of the situation is that the problem cannot be solved by aggressive government intervention. Most of this violence stems from individuals lacking anger management and conflict resolution. Why inner city low income young black men have much higher rates of inability to resolve conflicts without violence is the question palgueing many cities around the US.

Eh, it's not really singularly NIMBYs, as much as that's a convenient Boogeyman. Boston has had an insane growth/interest since the growth of software, biotech industries, and the complete beautification of the city with the completion of the Big Dig in 2008. Software industry didn't really become a thing in Boston until the mid aughts as well.

It's much easier to say "boo NIMBYS", sure but it's a much more complicated mix of factors that are less than 2 decades in the making.

I think it makes more sense to have the urban ring go through longwood than Kenmore. Maybe have it cut through Coolidge Corner and down to Harvard St on the B branch. Most people are going to Longwood anyways so it’d save them the transfer + people on the outer parts of the Greenline wouldn’t have to go as far to transfer
