Excuse me there tourist, you must not be familiar with the port city of Boston. Nobody here says Beantown. Please enjoy this documentary about our diverse aquatic life.

>You're using 1990, a huge gang war year, as a bellwether...We’ve had an average of 3 shootings a week so far in 2023.

And you're using a 3-4 week data set as a bellwether which is even less relevant when it comes to statistical analysis of overall homicide rates.

Plus there's the fact that you're repeatedly pitching some sort of fantasized connection between supposedly "unused" bike lane construction and homicides. Then you made it clear that you're completely daft when it comes to someone sarcastically taking the piss out of you (I even put the "/s" in the previous reply to try to help you out there).

I will say that if you went to Boston Public Schools we can at least use your stance on shootings & bike lanes as a prime example of educational failure here. I'll take that as a consolation.

Are they in the room with us right now?

Your idea of Utopia is one where Boston youth:

Or my maybe simply

(That’s just in the last ten days.)

Not everyone is lucky enough to have a stay at home parent. And if we need more after school activities, jobs, funding, etc then that’s something we can address.

But kids already can’t get guns.

Maybe we figure out a way to stop them from seeking them.

If we’re really swinging for the fences, then I would include some bored commuter rail tunnels out to Logan so that the Newbury/Rockport line can have an Airport stop. And while we’re at it, may as well add each terminal onto the Blue Line.

We have to agree to disagree. When we have a problem as big as our housing issue, no solution should be off the table because of "feels". Your solution still requires the state to get involved so we might as well try an all of the above approach and reevaluate whats working, and whats not, over a few year period or something like that. Also you choose to ignore all the possible issues with your private land owner solution. For instance I support higher, denser, and more affordable housing. However, if its not near public transit and its all high end luxury condos being brought up as foreign investments, its basically useless.
