You absolutely can. My building had no broker fee, no last month’s rent, and a deposit that was a fraction of a month’s rent.
Brokers fees are fucking stupid - I can’t believe this city puts up with that shit.

Different strokes, different folks. I regularly fly to Asia and i'll take the shitty stopover every time. And here's the kicker, i'm a huge aviation enthusiast. Love flying to my core. Not claustrophobic either. Just hate sitting in those shitty seats for that long.

Rozzy isn't Boston, neither is WR. Let's be honest.

I lived in Cleveland Circle when I was your age. BC runs shuttle buses that will take you to campus from there. You can have your car there and park on the street but I would recommend taking the BC shuttle or walking to campus because student parking passes are astronomical.

I know but it feels like it’s not in Boston. For example, it has been difficult to keep up with my friends in the city because it takes about 45 min to drive in when traffic is heavy.

Proximity to downtown and my ideal max budget is $2500 a month.

Doesn’t hurt to also post it here though (not saying that’s what you’re saying)

> Another advantage of newer apartment complexes is they don't tend to rape you with 1st, last, security, fee, etc. lol.
really poor taste of words dude
Anyways, you guys have expensive taste just by reading this over. With 0 information about where you are working and a hard $ cap there isn't anything to recommend. You mentioned being in an area with walkable places but nothing about in-building amenities (but if you think you can't afford in Boston proper, then you probably can't afford that either).

You’re not escaping 1st, last, security and brokers fee. That’s standard in Boston

I wouldn't be so quick with the transit police. Supposedly thats one of the more "prestigious" police departments of Mass. But, yes; I can attest BPD are worthless

I waited tables long enough to also have people who were very nice and just gushed to me about how great the service was leave a 10% tip or less. Fortunately they would generally be one table out of an entire shift so it didn't really sting too bad overall. I'd imagine that it would be a lot worse dealing with a convention crowd where it happens across most tables.

Make sure it doesn't have resistance heat if you pay utilities. That can cost more than a used car to operate.

What’s the most important part? Wanting to live alone, or proximity to downtown? Also, what’s your max budget?

The garage on Lafayette is the spot to park for the show! I parked there for the Nutcracker, and exited the garage almost across the street from the Opera House. There is a Legal Seafood across the street, and several other great restaurants within walking distance.
Enjoy the night out! I have only heard great things!

You can live basically anywhere you want on $150k a year as a single person, anything that isn't a brand new building will have rent at $2.5-2.6k a month for a 1 bed. Maybe that rules out the Seaport, but there are places a block from Copley on that budget.
edit: to be constructive, grad students/young single yuppies without kids are all over Cambridge and Somerville (Davis, Inman, Union), if they want to be spendy and trendy they're downtown in the South End, Beacon Hill or Back Bay (in small apartments that are quite expensive but hey its nice), or coming in from your direction via Jamaica Plain.
