You can live basically anywhere you want on $150k a year as a single person, anything that isn't a brand new building will have rent at $2.5-2.6k a month for a 1 bed. Maybe that rules out the Seaport, but there are places a block from Copley on that budget.

edit: to be constructive, grad students/young single yuppies without kids are all over Cambridge and Somerville (Davis, Inman, Union), if they want to be spendy and trendy they're downtown in the South End, Beacon Hill or Back Bay (in small apartments that are quite expensive but hey its nice), or coming in from your direction via Jamaica Plain.

Different strokes, different folks. I regularly fly to Asia and i'll take the shitty stopover every time. And here's the kicker, i'm a huge aviation enthusiast. Love flying to my core. Not claustrophobic either. Just hate sitting in those shitty seats for that long.

really poor taste of words dude

Anyways, you guys have expensive taste just by reading this over. With 0 information about where you are working and a hard $ cap there isn't anything to recommend. You mentioned being in an area with walkable places but nothing about in-building amenities (but if you think you can't afford in Boston proper, then you probably can't afford that either).

I wouldn't be so quick with the transit police. Supposedly thats one of the more "prestigious" police departments of Mass. But, yes; I can attest BPD are worthless

I waited tables long enough to also have people who were very nice and just gushed to me about how great the service was leave a 10% tip or less. Fortunately they would generally be one table out of an entire shift so it didn't really sting too bad overall. I'd imagine that it would be a lot worse dealing with a convention crowd where it happens across most tables.

The garage on Lafayette is the spot to park for the show! I parked there for the Nutcracker, and exited the garage almost across the street from the Opera House. There is a Legal Seafood across the street, and several other great restaurants within walking distance.

Enjoy the night out! I have only heard great things!
