I don’t believe I did.

  1. Police brutality is often linked to racism. Black people are disproportionately victims of police brutality and over policing. The officers being black, killing a black person does not invalidate racism.

  2. The officers were fired sure, but not everything is good and settled. This should never have happened, and they (police) should not be saying “that was fun!” after taking turns beating Tyrie Nichols to death. Firing them does not solve the systemic violence and injustice caused by police. This is why we protest.

Somerville, Cambridge, and JP have much more queer spaces imo than Boston Proper. No exclusively queer spaces but a much higher concentration of queer people. My suggestions would be Bow Market in Union Square in Somerville, specifically Rebel Rebel wine bar. (It’s queer woman owned) they also have a sister restaurant Dear Annie between Harvard and Porter. Davis square also has a few bars/spaces that have queer events (Goblin Hole etc). There are also queer based comedy shows around the city.

I live on the first floor of an 1840s house. About 1500sf of living space. Forced hot water radiators and baseboard heated by gas, gas hot water, gas range, electric dryer, electric wall oven, window unit air conditioning in summer.

My total annual gas bill last year was about $2200, with summers under $30 and winter months up to $400. We use balanced billing to even it out.

Electric is about $120 in the fall and spring months. Has gone as high as $500 in winter when we're running space heaters. As high as $350 in the height of summer. We have a second fridge in the basement, a dehumidifier in the basement, and do a lot of laundry and dishes with a family of 4.

We spent thousands of dollars on insulation and more on new windows, energy star everything, there's just no good way to tighten up these old houses.

Most rentals here include water.

According to the European Model, Saturday morning is supposed to be below -10 F in most of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island except for places right along the coast. Northern New England and western Mass are supposed to be even colder, with widespread -20s or even -30s in Northern NH.

That was the stated purpose of "broken windows policing," which played a big role in increasing our prison population to what it is today. Stricter enforcement does not lead to a reduction in crimes being committed, and can often have the opposite effect. This is because it reinforces structures of inequality and exacerbates symptoms of poverty.

What has reduced crime is building a stronger social safety net so those who find themselves in desperate situations can get support from the state instead of other illegal alternatives.

It didn’t hurt but I was taught when someone is being a dick don’t let it slide or they’ll go on and keeping being a dick to the next one and the one after that.

Did you think that OP or I genuinely didn’t get that price drops when you buy in bulk, like items in a grocery store? That’s common knowledge and it’s rude to imply that someone doesn’t know something that is common knowledge. That’s just be being a dick

Were you excited to correct someone in an area that made you feel intellectual? That’s understandable but wasn’t really warranted in this example and still would just be being a dick.

Is there a third option? I don’t see what purpose your comment had. I think you’re just being a dick

1200 sq foot apartment, 3 of us living here. Gas heat. We signed up for balanced billing for gas so our gas bill is $81 a month. $150 for cable/internet but I’m dropping cable soon which should bring that under $100 a month hopefully. Electric varies, it was over $200 in the summer bc we have central air. Now it’s down around $110.
