I suppose I really didn’t know what other people do! I guess I imagined that folks are so pressed for time, that having to step away from a book would be distracting? But I have to give readers more credit!

The answer to "why can't that human race also be diverse like it is in real life "
It's not real life. It's fantasy. A story made up in somebody's head.
Again, the author writes what they want to write. If you don't like a particular story because because it lacks diversity according to your ideology, find an author who shares the same, or write your own.
I'm all for a more diverse world. Instead of white washing or black washing and what not. I think a epic fantasy tale today would most likely include what you desire. But the works that any fantasy is inspired by is simply a product of its time.
It's just completely situational. There is no always right or always wrong in this matter.
But to answer the OP question of the logic, it's simple. Whoever wrote it, can write what they want. It's their imagination.

I do. Especially for books set in places I'm less familiar with. Its nice to be able to pull up a map and understand the geography.

Of course, but not just the terms I don't understand. Everything I'd like to know more about, including locations, events, and so on. Sometimes I'll even research the author for good measure, especially what they were up to as they were working on the book.

That sounds like a really cool plot. What's it called?

Reply to How do you rate your books on Goodreads? by pensieve64
5 stars: It caused some kind of emotional response. E.g. I cried, or I just loved it so much I hugged it at the end.
4 stars: It was good, I enjoyed it.
3 stars: It was okay. I got through it.
I never rate anything below 3 stars because if a book is that bad I'll put it down before finishing it.

Yes, although since I do most of my reading on ereaders, I can just use the built-in dictionary. Sometimes I need to look up idioms on my phone, however.

Do you use that feature? I’m just really curious if folks are stopping to look up things, or if they’re just moving along.
JamesStrangsGhost t1_jdi2i26 wrote
Kindle will link words to their definition or locations to their wikipedia pages.
Its a handy feature.

You put out a negative review about something and got flamed for it, you’re not minding your own business you’re inviting that conflict.
Does it in any way excuse their actions and comments? Not at all but don’t share publicly if you can’t handle the blowback.

Well, it's not real for a start. Maybe focus on how devoid of sadness your own life is to be this affected by book or on the flip side, delve into whatever real grief you're carrying around in real-life that was brought out by something you connected to in the book.

It’s wild to me how many people in these comments think the only people that use tiktok are teenagers. My FYP is exclusively older adults. It’s just a social media app, there’s no max age limit for using it lmao.

Describing someone having "black hair" or "sun-kissed skin" aren't exactly unique racial aspects that one is born with, but I have seen writers avoid describing the colour of one's skin for example. Works well I think.

Agreed, it’s happened to me on Reddit! It made me not want to participate in book discussions at all on here. Anyone that thinks Reddit is somehow a better version of social media just cause it’s their favorite needs to do some introspection.

In such a setting there shouldn't be any white people, as pale skin didn't develop until fairly recently.
Lol, why is this getting downvoted? If you are so concerned with realism and logic, you have to understand that the only setting where people haven't traveled far enough away from one another for long enough to develop different racial attributes is one where white people have never come into existence.
People down voting this are REALLY not helping their case that they totally aren't racists for hating diversity in books.

But it’s the gay people who have an agenda and are a threat to society. Right?
