>Hi there. Your post would be better asked in our Simple Questions thread. It helps us keep the main subreddit focused around broader discussion rather topics which only apply to an individual. Thank you!

And where is that Simple Questions thread?

Gimme the link please.

I will go post my question there.

And hopefully I'll get better answers to my question than tigojones's platitudes (I've heard it all before from the mouth of the very few people who love the awful new "canon" and I couldn't disagree with them more on this) and I'll get to know my way around this subreddit a little bit better (I'm new to this subreddit).

Thank you in advance,

Michelle.

I’m a part of two different book clubs that definitely include men. For a while one of the clubs alternated a science fiction book with literary fiction, and we had a bunch of guys for a while during that time.

There are “book clubs” that are really just an excuse to socialize, and then book clubs where they discuss the books.

How about you just read it and find out for yourself? Maybe you'll find out that the Disney stuff isn't all that bad. I know, I know, what a crazy concept, right?

I happen to be someone that enjoys both the new AND the old, and can do so simultaneously (and can also see where the EU/Legends stuff isn't always good). My favourite Star Wars character of all time, Kyle Katarn, isn't Disney Canon, but so what?

Seriously, just give it a shot. If you must know, the books came out in the last few years, long after the Disney purchase, so assume that they're "Disney Canon".

I went to one. Mine would bring snacks centered around the book and then we would proceed to talk about the books and our feelings and what we thought about certain things in the book. Every now and again one of the authors would come and sign the books we had read. I was really anxious but excited and it turned out much more easy and comfortable then I thought

She's a romance writer who has great appeal among women of all ages. Her books are not fun to read though because every one of those have a tragic backstory, making the stories emotional.

I used to read and collect her books, but I've already outgrown my CoHo phase.

Why are her books popular? Simple. Romance sells.

At a book club my grandma was a member of, the theme was basically, "Books that have been made into movies." They'd watch the movie based on the book they'd read since the last meeting and then talk about the book. Then they'd vote on the next book they wanted to read. Can't tell you if that's typical for book clubs but that's what I'm familiar with.
